Antiwar.com: Enemy of the State

Earlier this week, our webmaster reported on the now infamous State of Missouri Information Analysis Center missive, “The Modern Militia Movement.” Less jaded political activists reacted with the expected righteous indignation while others subtly exploited the report with the intent to whip supporters of causes as benign as medical marijuana and homeschooling into a frenzy.

Alas, you can’t fool KMOV St. Louis, Channel 4. They know an enemy of the state when they see one; one of the bumper stickers they prominently featured marking an American citizen as some sort of potential terrorist was from….Antiwar.com. Yes, no one is as dangerous to the state as an advocate for peace.

  1. I guess Jesus Christ would be considered a terrorist today and the Sermon on the Mount as hate-speech ?

    1. That would explain the complete absence of this sermon (or indeed any portion of the Four Gospels) from Sunday sermons in any of Amerika’s State, er, sorry, “evangelical” churches. It also explains the blank stares or derisive sneers one encounters when mentioning this sermon to one of said churches “pastors” or members.

      1. But you can be sure they said, “God bless our troops” during the church service. That used to always bother me when I used to go to a contemporary church a few years ago. My last pastor was a big Bush fan…until he got caught fooling around with one of our neighbors wives and was given the pink slip by the congregation.

I remember when I was younger that we always prayed for peace or safety of individuals serving in the military. I never heard God Bless Our Troops until this whole Iraq mess started.

    2. Absolutely, Corkey. I wonder how my “Blessed Are The Peacemakers” bumper sticker would be received in Missouri.

  2. Right along with “Impeach Bush”, it seems half the country is a potential terrorist.

  3. The KMOV TV apple-polisher’s wrap:

Governor Nixon says … gathering this data is one more way to give officers the information they need to keep them safe in one of the most dangerous jobs around.

After all, Job #1 is to protect and serve the police.

  4.
looks to me like we’re in the middle of a william gibson “cold civil war”, with the neocons, their puppet govt and media on one side, and people who’ve been paying attention on the other side.

the neocons will box us into a choice: more wars overseas or a hot civil war in the states… no doubt the same people will profit from either…

obama’s election could be a preemptive action against urban discontent, and haim saban, the “i’m a one issue guy, and that issue is israel…” guy, bought univision, the biggest spanish language TV network recently… which ought to be useful in herding the spanish-speakers.

hillary is haim’s favorite politician… he was hoping she’d be president, but i guess he’ll have to settle.

In an interview with Forbes Magazine Saban was asked how he thinks the Democratic Party could get back into the White House in 2008. Saban answered three times: “Vote for Hillary Clinton.”

Saban added that Clinton will be a great president and she has the best vision for the future of the United States.

Haim Saban supports Hillary for 2008 israeltoday

meanwhile, the israel lobby has got to feel good about their victory over freeman, which should pave the way for more phony intelligence and war with iran… remember that little outfit in sharon’s office, fabricating evidence of iraq’s WMDs? …looks like a replay…

when the S (finally) HTF, america will be dismantled along racial lines, in keeping with neocon theories about “blood borders“… which is one of the main theories of neocon philosophy that will, in the best of all possible neocon worlds, result in a complete overhaul of the middle east and southwest asia.

    1. “which ought to be useful in herding the Spanish-speakers”…I think your on to something there. There are very few Jews in Latin America and most Hispanics just see them here in America as the wealthiest and most privileged of Whites and have no use for them.

  5. [R]emember that little outfit in sharon’s office, fabricating evidence of iraq’s WMDs? …looks like a replay…

And of course the brainless sheeple have learned NOTHING from the Iraq episode of six years ago and will swallow, whole, the same shallow, transparently bogus “intelligence” about Iran that is a repeat of the ruse that fooled them the first time. That, or the sheeple are actually just bloodthirsty kleptofascists, in the same mold as those who rule over them. Birds of a feather…

    1. Haven’t learned or perhaps don’t really care. I think as long as most sheeple are only indirectly affected by the American empire (i.e. there is no draft and no blowback attacks, which the powers that be will simply spin as “an attack on fredom”) they would rather just watch American idol.

  6.
    liberranter says…

“…or the sheeple are actually just bloodthirsty kleptofascists, in the same mold as those who rule over them.”

    that’s the scary part

  7. Why haven’t we seen or heard about the Missouri Analysis Center’s terrorist list in any of the news media?

Shouldn’t the American people be warned about Ron Paul, Antiwar.com, and the other “terrorists” among us?

What a joke this Homeland Security Department is. No wonder this country is going broke. Why weren’t they more diligent before the Towers went down? No, because the CIA and FBI were in competition instead of looking out for the real terrorists living in Texas.

Somebody at the top must be getting worried if they have to hone in on those on their stupid list.

  8. Home-grown, Christian domestic terrorists like Timothy McVeigh or the nuts who bomb abortion clinics are extremly rare. Yes, they are a danger but not much of one. The danger comes primarily not from Christian fundamentalists but from RADICAL MUSLIMS. Yes, I have said it before and I will say it again, radical Muslims pose a clear and present danger to the national security of the United States and to all western nations.

Read American Jihad by Steve Emerson who documents this.

    1. yup.

according to steve emerson, RADICAL MUSLIMS caused that heat wave, the drought, the dry lightning and the high winds that caused all those forest fires in australia.

      *shrugs*

    2. US Muslims are about 6 million; US Prot Fundies, perhaps 100 million (probably fewer). It’s easy to see which are more dangerous!

      China

    3. Timmy, why do you swallow whole the bullshit your government masters and their media shills spoon feed you?

      1. Because he’s one of the bloodthirsty kleptofascist majoritarians that I mentioned in my previous post. Or maybe just one of the brainless sheeple that I also mentioned. Either way, the product is the same.

      2. I was in lower manhattan on 9/11 and I smelled, saw, heard and felt the destruction brought upon my city by the Islamo terrorist thugs. I don’t need anyone to spoon feed me anything, I have seen what they are capable of!

    4. Do they pose a threat to “eastern nations” too? Are China, Japan, the two Koreas, Vietnam, etc, just waiting to be swept aside by Islam? What about all the countries of South America? Are they nervously awaiting the Muslim hordes? Could it be the association by western nations with Israel that has something to do with it? Should the west be running interference for Israel? I don’t see any gain in that at all. I DO think that Islamic immigration to western Europe is ill-advised. But that is another matter.

      1. Acoording to Israel firsters Any threat to Israel is a threat to whole world. It is a poor little country srounded by uncivilized ,undemocratic, and blood thersity hords only God knows where they came from, etc, etc .

These people would not rest until the west in general, and the US in particular were ingulfed in endless wars agaainst tmost if not all Arab and Muslim people and countries. If lies and fabrications would serve theier agenda ,so it be.

      2. There are about 40 million Muslims in China. You meet them everywhere. I probably have half a dozen Muslims in each of my English classes. The main difference between them and the other Chinese is that they don’t eat pork. I eat at, eg, Lanzhou Noodle restaurants, usually run by Muslims, fairly often, and nothing bad has ever happened to me.

The truth is, Muslims are about as dangerous as Southern Baptists. Some feeble-minded individuals just can’t live without putting others down, and Muslims are in fashion at the moment in the USA.

        Lester Ness

      3. Andy writes: “I DO think that Islamic immigration to western Europe is ill-advised. But that is another matter.”

Well, at least we agree on something!

      4. The whole world witnessed the barabric attacks on the helpless people of Gaza for over 3 weeks by the Judaic terrorist thugs.

Soldier says rabbis pushed “religious war” in Gaza

“Rabbis in the Israeli army told battlefield troops in January’s Gaza offensive they were fighting a “religious war” against gentiles, according to one army commander’s account published Friday.

“Their message was very clear: we are the Jewish people, we came to this land by a miracle, God brought us back to this land and now we need to fight to expel the gentiles who are interfering with our conquest of this holy land,” he said.

The account by Ram, a pseudonym to shield the soldier’s identity, was published by the left-leaning Haaretz newspaper in the second day of revelations that have rocked the Israeli military. (www.haaretz.com “Shooting and Crying, 2009”).

They were leaked from a Feb 13 meeting of armed forces members to share their Gaza experiences.

Some veterans, alumni of an Israel Defense Force (IDF) military academy, told of the killing of civilians and their impression that deep contempt for Palestinians pervaded the ranks of the Israeli forces.

Haaretz and the daily Maariv, which also published the accounts, quoted over half a dozen soldiers and airmen. The institution’s director, Danny Zamir, confirmed that Thursday’s published accounts were authentic.

In longer excerpts in its Friday “Week’s End” edition, the daily quoted ‘Ram’ as saying his impression of the 22-day operation was “the feeling of an almost religious mission.”

Craig Monteilh, 46, a fitness consultant from Irvine, said he infiltrated mosques from July 2006 to October 2007 and secretly recorded conversations with the brother-in-law of Osama bin Laden’s bodyguard.

Monteilh said Ahmadullah Niazi befriended him at the mosque and spoke about jihad, sending money to fighters in Afghanistan, and blowing up buildings in Southern California.

“He was going to set up a time for me to go to a terror training camp in Yemen or Pakistan,” Monteilh said in an interview Thursday.

Monteilh came forward after Niazi, 34, was arrested last week on charges of lying about ties with terrorist groups on his citizenship and passport documents. The FBI, however, has not confirmed that Monteilh worked for the agency.

Monteilh said his tenure as an informant ended several months after Niazi and other members of the Islamic Center of Irvine reported him to authorities and got an order barring him from being near the mosque or its employees.”

    1. Lear K., all the Jews, Zionists, Xtn Zionists in the world could disappear and you’d have exactly the same problems. You’d have to find someone else to blame for the problems of life. “It’s not in your stars but in yourselves that you are weaklings.”

I am not looking “to find someone else to blame for the problems of life”!

  10. Steve Emerson:

NBC’s International Terrorism Expert Steven Emerson Speaks at Jewish Federation’s Annual Chairmen’s Invitational

    Steven Emerson’s Crusade
Why is a journalist pushing questionable stories from behind the scenes
    “Emerson’s priorities

Emerson has escaped notice in the affair–but his efforts had helped craft a hard-to-erase public perception that Pakistan was the bad guy among Asia’s nuclear novices.

The role Emerson played may at first seem perplexing. He presents himself as a journalist, yet he handed off what appeared to be a major story to rivals. A closer look at Emerson’s career suggests his priority is not so much news as it is an unrelenting attack against Arabs and Muslims. From this perspective, his gambit with Khan seems easier to understand: Pakistan is a Muslim nation, while India’s nuclear program has long been linked to Israel. As the Indian Express noted (6/29/98), Pakistani politicians were “convinced that they were about to be attacked by India, possibly with Israeli assistance.”

Emerson’s willingness to push an extremely thin story–with potentially explosive consequences–is also consistent with the lengthy list of mistakes and distortions that mar his credentials as an expert on terrorism.

Those blemishes had, for a time, seemed to drive Emerson from major news outlets. He has had to resort to new tactics to maintain his anti-Muslim crusade–an “anti-terrorism” journal that he uses as a soapbox, associates whose reputations aren’t as damaged as his, and, as in the Khan episode, staying behind the curtains.”

  11. Withdraws Defamation Suit
“Terror” Slut Steve Emerson Eats Crow (Just for Starters)

Self-styled “terrorism expert” Steven Emerson has filed for dismissal of a multi-million-dollar defamation suit against a Florida newspaper and its senior editor. The “notice of voluntary dismissal” (Case No. 00-03739) filed in the Circuit Court in and for Hillsborough County, Fla., states: “Plaintiff Steven Emersonherewith serves notice of his dismissal of this action, without prejudice, against defendants John Sugg and The Weekly Planet, Inc.”

  12. If war is the health of the state, then advocates for peace are the most dangerous of all.

  13. In the eyes of our government masters and their media shill we are all terrorists, or at the very least potential terrorists. This is how our rulers view their subjects.

  14. “US Muslims are about 6 million; US Prot Fundies, perhaps 100 million (probably fewer). It’s easy to see which are more dangerous!”

Now, now the Fundies are only dangerous every couple of years or so, that is to say: WHEN THEY VOTE!

  15. If war is peace, then peace is war. Therefore Antiwar.com means Antipeace.com, and surely anyone who subscribes to being against peace is an enemy of the State and deserves to be an unperson. Understanding the State is all very easy once you get the hang of the lingo and the thought (sic) process of the Inner Party and its media adepts in the Outer Party.

  16. It shouldn’t be any surprise that antiwar.com is demonized as a security “threat”. What do we expect when we hire Israeli “security experts” to guide us?

  17. Soldier suicides skyrocket
But a tepid Senate hearing on Wednesday, with no testimony from lower-ranking combat troops from Iraq or Afghanistan, does little to explain why.

Last year the Army had its highest suicide rate on record — 140 soldiers. But new data from the Army on Wednesday showed the number jumping even higher. Forty-eight soldiers have already killed themselves so far this year. If that rate keeps up, nearly 225 Army soldiers will be dead by their own hand by the end of 2009.”

    http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2009/03/19/army_suicides/

    1. Let’s be honest: Nobody within the Reigning Establishment gives a flying you-know-what about “soldier suicides”, or the soldiers themselves, and certainly not once they become “veterans.” A quick glance at the both the military medical establishment and the VA’s standing practice of passive neglect or outright denial of help to those whom both institutions ostensibly exist to serve should make that fact loud and clear. Indeed, the not-so-tacit message to both active duty combat troops and their veteran counterparts appears to be “Go ahead, off yourselves. You’ve served your purpose, but now that you’re wounded, disabled, and/or psychologically destroyed beyond hope of redemption or reuse, we have no more use for you and therefore are not about to waste precious resources on you. Removing yourselves from the gene pool will save us millions of dollars, at least in the short term, money that we can put to much better use to recruit train, equip, and deploy replacements for you. So, drop dead!”

I’ve always wondered why, given the fact that this has been the unmistakable message sent to disabled and mentally incapacitated veterans for, oh, only the last two hundred years or so that ANYONE voluntarily enlists in the military at all, much less makes it a career. George Santayana’s most famous quotation is nowhere more starkly proven than here. (By the way, just for the record and to preclude the inevitable flames that this post is sure to engender, I count myself, as one who volunteered to serve and did so for more than a single enlistment, among the guilty-as-charged.)

  18. “Another squad leader from the same brigade told of an incident where the company commander ordered that an elderly Palestinian woman be shot and killed; she was walking on a road about 100 meters from a house the company had commandeered.

The squad leader said he argued with his commander over the permissive rules of engagement that allowed the clearing out of houses by shooting without warning the residents beforehand. After the orders were changed, the squad leader’s soldiers complained that “we should kill everyone there [in the center of Gaza]. Everyone there is a terrorist.”

The squad leader said: “You do not get the impression from the officers that there is any logic to it, but they won’t say anything. To write ‘death to the Arabs’ on the walls, to take family pictures and spit on them, just because you can. I think this is the main thing: To understand how much the IDF has fallen in the realm of ethics, really. It’s what I’ll remember the most.”

    1. Thank you for that link. I never believed Pearl Harbor came as a “surprise” to the American government.

  19. The FBI is on My Trail
They Want to Question Me About Lies Sami Al-Arian Allegedly Told, But What About the Lies Al-Arian’s Enemies Fed the Government and the Tampa Tribune?

I asked Myers why he wanted to talk to me.

He recited (apparently in violation of a gag order issued at federal prosecutors’ own request) some dialogue from the wiretaps, in which I discuss with Al-Arian what a government source had told me in the late 1990s about the federal agent who originally was chasing the USF Muslims. The source had said the agent, Barry Carmody, had a debilitating disease and was trying to make a bigger deal of the case than it was so that he could stay on the FBI payroll.

‘ve written that working in Perez’s office is a prosecutor, Bob O’Neill, who owns a Hyde Park bar that for years has been raising money for Ireland’s Sinn Fein and its very, very, very terrorist arm, the Irish Republican Army. The IRA has killed several times the number of innocent civilians than the group Al-Arian is accused of supporting, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. O’Neill’s partner is unabashed in his support of the IRA.

It certainly points to hypocrisy inherent in the government’s case — that it prosecutes Al-Arian, holding the professor under despicably inhumane conditions in an attempt to break him, while one of the prosecutors is indisputably indulging in activities very similar to those alleged against the Muslims.

More important, my disclosures on O’Neill are the foundation for one of at least three complaints against Perez filed with the Justice Department in Washington. Investigators from Washington have been rolling into Tampa asking tough questions of Perez, so my sources say. Not hard to figure out why Perez’s judicial quest merited only a rebuff.

Would Perez be so vindictive as to unleash the FBI on me?

  20. “Alas, you can’t fool KMOV St. Louis, Channel 4.”

Did anyone notice that the station DID NOT claim that the bumper sticker indicated a terrorist threat?! They were INTERVIEWING a libertarian who said SHE THOUGHT the police might target her because of her bumper-sticker. So her paranoid fantasies are now being used as EVIDENCE that AntiWar.com is considered a terrorist threat!
