Bergen’s Albright Moment

It was a very hard choice, but Peter Bergen has given our killing by remote control a grudging thumbs up (Pakistan drone war takes a toll on militants — and civilians, CNN, Oct. 29, 2009).

Not only do the drone attacks “consistently” kill civilians, they also prompt blowback, but as that blowback has yet to reach U.S. shores, well, the price in Pakistani blood–he thinks the price is worth it.

Under Obama, we tried to get Baitullah Mehsud fifteen times “but he still didn’t see it coming.”  Yep, killing the Pakistani Taliban’s leader (and “one of his wives and her father”) in August was the landmark success, ding dong, the witch is dead, never mind the concerns expressed when the new leader surfaced that he was “far more dangerous and unpredictable” (Hakimullah behind current wave of terror, The News, Oct. 17, 2009).

It’s not logical I realize, but I expected better from Bergen given that he had recognized the 9/11 attacks as blowback (Prophet of Evil, Washington Post, Nov. 11, 2001).

  1. Something tells me Mr. Bergen would be singing a different tune if it were John McCain sitting in the Oval Office. But since we have Lord Obama calling the shots, the slaughter of innocent civilians is magically considered "worth it." Bergen sure has an interesting moral compass.

CAIRO, Egypt – Al-Qaida's No. 2 leader issued a worldwide call Thursday for Muslims to rise up in a holy war against Israel and join the fighting in Lebanon and Gaza until Islam reigns from "Spain to Iraq."

In the message broadcast by Al-Jazeera television, Ayman al-Zawahri, second in command to Osama bin Laden, said that al-Qaida now views "all the world as a battlefield open in front of us."

The Egyptian-born physician said that the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah and Palestinian militants would not be ended with "cease-fires or agreements."

          1. I don't have a conspiracy theory, fool. I'll let long time readers of this website judge which one of us is more accurate.

  2. Let’s say that a Pakistani,An Iraqi,or Palesinian targets some soliders on a civilian bus,a resturant or a pizzaria frequented by American or Israeli military personals killing soliders and civilians in the process .The whole world would up in arms and calling that terrorism. But they totally ignore what US ,NATO,and Israel have been doing for so long!

The US gives its self and Israel the rights to target whomever they call enemy anywhere any time, rights that would deny every body else!

  3. Peter Bergen – Disinformation Specialist and Liar!!!!

Peter Bergen's books read like Hollywood fantasy movies. This man is not to be trusted.

  4. “”After South Waziristan is finished, the Pakistanis will have to go on to try to root out other terrorist groups, or we’re going to be back facing the same threats,” she warned.

During the visit and talks with Pakistani leaders, Clinton found herself repeatedly on the defensive from ordinary Pakistanis brimming with resentment toward U.S. foreign policy.

During a live broadcast of an interview before a predominantly female audience of several hundred, Clinton struggled to avoid describing the classified U.S. effort to target terrorists, and still try to explain the efforts of American foreign policy.

One woman asked Clinton how she would define terrorism.

“Is it the killing of people in drone attacks?” the woman asked. Then she asked if Clinton considered both the U.S. missile strikes and militant bombings like the one that killed more than 100 civilians in the city of Peshawar earlier in the week as acts of terrorism.

“No, I do not,” Clinton replied.”!…

…”We don’t know where, and I have no information that they know where, but this is a big government. You know, it’s a government on many levels. Somebody, somewhere in Pakistan must know where these people are. And we’d like to know because we view them as really at the core of the terrorist threat that threatens Pakistan, threatens Afghanistan, threatens us, threatens people all over the world,” Clinton said.

      1. Israel has a dozen political parties, so probably a dozen lobbies in the US, too. The US religious right has the real clout with US politicians.

  5. America has a totally corrupt government. We refuse to see the equivalence of drone killings of innocent bystanders with suicide bomb killings of innocent bystanders. Our Congress is about to deny the truth of the Goldstone Report. We will not seriously consider environmental pollution. We will not tax the rich to balance our books. We care not a whit for others or even much about our own.
Don’t waste your time looking for reform. What we are witnessing is the issue of filth coming from a dying empire.

    1. China is not going to be #1.One Child policy , state enterprises that are not efficient So who is going to be number 1?

      1. Who cares! The world is too large and diverse to be subject to long-term unipolarism. Just look at what is now happening to America and its bull**** PNAC hegemonistic nonsense. This is not some kind of race or contest. Switzerland, Sweden, Eire, Norway, New Zealand, etc – these are all decent countries, peaceful and prosperous, in many ways much better off then America. You think their citizenry waste time worrying about "being number one"?

  6. I had hoped that American international politics would have taken a step up with the new administration. Now we have Hilary Clinton on the same weekend saying that " the Alfghanistan election run-off will be legitimate with only the current leader as a candidate", the leader that orchestrated the corruption of the first election. I guess legitimacy is in the eye of the beholder and Hiliary should hasten to an eye doctor. Such a statement makes the US look very foolish in the eyes of other people. Then she makes it very clear in Israel that stopping their house building in the occupied lands is no longer a matter to be pushed by US diplomacy. Talk about knuckling under to the stronger opinons. And back in the good USA, the Jewish reps in the Congress and Senate are passing bills to benefit Israel with little or no benefit to the US. Why aren't they discussing health care and the massive national debt?

  7. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN AL QAEDA GETS WHAT IT WANTS.

Consider what happened on Aug. 14. Four jihadist suicide-bombers blew themselves up in two Iraqi villages, killing more than 500 Kurdish civilians — men, women and babies — who belonged to a tiny pre-Islamic sect known as the Yazidis

  8. It is about “God’s . . . favorite team.” His favorite nation. His favorite Christian religion cradling “His only Son” and “Saviour of the world.” It is actually about an “endless war’s” roar of ethnocentric patriotism and imperialistic Christianity drowning out the reason of democratic humanness.

It is about the American flag covering and suffocating to death over one million Iraqi civilians, uprooting over four million more, destroying a country’s life-sustaining infrastructure, triggering terrible sectarian violence to this day, and unjustly sacrificing American lives and resources in a war based on lies. A criminal war launched by a self-professed “Christ . . . changed my heart . . . I pray daily . . . for peace,” American president. An openly religious president who repeatedly redefined America’s blatant so-called “Operation Iraqi Freedom” war crime as an act of God: “Freedom is not America’s gift to the world, it is Almighty God’s gift to every man and woman in this world.” And a significant majority of evangelical Christians said “Amen!” While many others said nothing.

Former President Bush’s religious battle cry evidently had a Biblical-like ring to most evangelical Christians: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but have eternal life.” Bush’s religiously legitimized warmongering words also echoed the Christian Gospel’s imperialistic mission: a supposedly resurrected Jesus appeared to and commanded his disciples with, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. (Matthew 28: 16-20)

Imperialism by any other name . . . Whether in the name of “freedom” or in the name of “Christ.” It is about believing or perishing.

It is about one of the worst war criminals in the eyes of the world showing his face on the Dallas Cowboys Stadium’s 50-yard line and receiving “a warm reception” from 105,121 fans. A United Methodist war criminal, whose presidential library, museum and institute are now housed at his hierarchically-controlled and therefore predominately conventional denomination’s Southern Methodist University in Dallas. It is about imperialistic crimes against humanity legitimized by piety and patriotism.

It is about the American flag unfurled against the people of Afghanistan in an immoral eight- year war. Hundreds of innocent men, women and children in Afghanistan and Pakistan have been indiscriminately killed by US drone and other air strikes. As reported in The New York Times, “The [United States Special] forces have often been blamed for nighttime raids on villages, detentions and air strikes that have the population in southern Afghanistan to the point of revolt. (May 7, 2009) (See Alberts, “First the Torture of Truth . . . ,” CounterPunch, June 10, 2009)

The American flag is also a symbol of oppression in Pakistan, as over three million civilians have been made refugees by the US-pressured Pakistani military’s offensives against Taliban strongholds—with untold more displaced civilians to come as more than 100,000 already have fled South Wazinistan, where Pakistan’s air and ground forces, pushed and equipped by the US, are launching new attacks against the Taliban. (“Under Pressure, Pakistani Army Pushes into South Wazinistan,” By Spiegel Staff, Spiegel Online International, 10, 19, 2009)

The hatred toward America is reported to have spread from Afghanistan to Pakistan:

It is quite possible that Pakistan is already the world’s most anti-American country. From university professors to taxi drivers, most Pakistanis are convinced that the terror in their country is not homegrown, but a consequence of the US invasion of Afghanistan. (Ibid.)

  9. The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine

By William Podmore (London United Kingdom) – See all my reviews
    (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)

Pappe, an Israeli historian and a senior lecturer at Haifa University, has written a superb account of the Israeli expulsion of the Palestinians from their land in 1948. He quotes David Ben Gurion, leader of the Zionist movement from the mid-1920 until the 1960s, who wrote in his diary in 1938, “I am for compulsory transfer; I do not see anything immoral in it.” This contradicts the Zionists’ public claim that they were seizing a land without a people.

Pappe writes of the Israelis’ March 1948 plan for evicting the Palestinians, “The orders came with a detailed description of the methods to be employed to forcibly evict the people: large-scale intimidation; laying siege to and bombarding villages and population centres; setting fire to homes, properties and goods; expulsion; demolition; and, finally, planting mines among the rubble to prevent any of the expelled inhabitants from returning.”

Between 30 March and 15 May 1948, i.e. before any Arab government intervened, Israeli forces seized 200 villages and expelled 250,000 Palestinians. The Israeli leadership stated, “The principal objective of the operation is the destruction of Arab villages … the eviction of the villagers.” On 9 April, Israeli forces massacred 93 people, including 30 babies, at Deir Yassin. In Haifa, the Israeli commander ordered, “Kill any Arab you encounter.”

This all happened under British rule in Palestine, where Britain had 75,000 troops: Britain’s Mandate did not end until 14 May. The Labour government connived at the Israeli onslaught, although the British state was legally obliged as the occupier (and also by UN resolution 181) to uphold law and order. Yet the Labour government announced that it would no longer be responsible for law and order and it withdrew all the British policemen. It also forbade the presence of any UN bodies, again breaching the terms of the UN resolution. The government ordered British forces to disarm the few Palestinians who had weapons, promising to protect them from Israeli attacks, then immediately reneged on this promise.

On 24 May 1948, Ben Gurion wrote, “We will establish a Christian state in Lebanon, the southern border of which will be the Litani River. We will break Transjordan, bomb Amman and destroy its army, and then Syria falls, and if Egypt will still continue to fight – we will bombard Port Said, Alexandria and Cairo. This will be in revenge for what they (the Egyptians, the Aramis and Assyrians) did to our forefathers during Biblical times.” These ravings of an insane warmonger hardly betrayed any genuine fear of a `second holocaust’. The Palestinians were suffering massive expulsion, not trying to destroy the Jewish community.

Pappe summarises, “When it created its nation-state, the Zionist movement did not wage a war that `tragically but inevitably’ led to the expulsion of `parts of’ the indigenous population, but the other way round: the main goal was the ethnic cleansing of all of Palestine, which the movement coveted for its new state. A few weeks after the ethnic cleansing operations began, the neighbouring Arab states sent a small army – small in comparison to their overall military might – to try, in vain, to prevent the ethnic cleansing. The war with the regular Arab armies did not bring the ethnic cleansing operations to a halt until their successful completion in the autumn of 1948.”

Overall, the Zionist forces uprooted more than half Palestine’s population, 800,000 people, destroyed 531 villages and emptied eleven urban neighbourhoods of their inhabitants. Pappe concludes that this was “a clear-cut case of an ethnic cleansing operation, regarded under international law today as a crime against humanity.”

    1. In 1948 Israel's enemies launched a war of annihilation where all the jews of the area would have been expelled or killed. That's a war crime or an attempted one.

Israel's enemies also sided with the Nazis- and helped them with the holocaust.

      http://images.google.co.kr/images?hl=ko&clien

      That's a war crime.

and they persecuted and even expelled arab jews in revenge for Israel

That is a war crime too.

  10. The newsperson also explained the reason that Mandela was on the terrorist honor roll because the apartheid government of South Africa had labeled him as such, and the United States simply went along with that designation.

I found myself wishing that the newsperson would go on to explain exactly how Hizbollah, or Hamas, made the American list of terrorist organizations. But we know how that happened, don’t we? Israel wanted them labeled as terrorists, so the United States went along with it, as accommodating today to apartheid Israel as it was to apartheid South Africa back in the days before South Africa went straight.

What the American public doesn’t hear about from any mainstream news source is the history of Jewish terrorism from the 1940s when the Zionist movement methodically went about ethnically cleansing Palestine of Palestinians through present day, when Israel and its people commit daily acts of terrorism against the Palestinians.

From the early days of Zionism, two of the vilest Jewish terrorists went on to become prime ministers of Israel. Menachem Begin, no ordinary run-of-the-mill terrorist, but the actual head of the Irgun, one of two vicious Jewish terrorist groups that who worked hard to chase Palestinians out of their homeland to make room for Zionists intent on creating an exclusive Jewish state. The other was former Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir, who was one of a three member troika that comprised the leadership triad of the Stern Gang, which was even more vicious, if that’s possible, than the Irgun.

I once mentioned to Nathan over dinner at my home in Washington that Sir Christopher Mayhew, the British Lord who was pro-Palestinian, had told me that the Stern Gang had sent him a letter bomb with the intention of killing him. He had incurred their wrath by taking the side of the Palestinians during the time that the Zionist movement was trying to move them out of Palestine.

“Did you send a letter bomb to Sir Christopher?” I asked Nathan.

“Oh, yeah, we sent lots of letter bombs in those days,” he responded.

A few years ago, Robert Manning, a West Bank settler, was hired as a hit man by one businessman to kill another. Manning sent a letter bomb to his target’s office, but it was his secretary who died, and not the businessman. The same Israeli terrorist killed Alex Odeh with a bomb, but our Justice Department was not allowed to bring that up because it had agreed with Israel not to do so if they would “allow” his extradition for the secretary’s murder.

but what do we know about present day terrorism in the state of Israel? Well, not much, because the daily killing of Palestinian civilians, whom the Israelis label as “militants” to make the killing more palatable, is barely noted in the American press, and even more hardly understood by the American public.

  11. al-Qa'ida (The Base)
    Qa멼dat al-Jihad
Islamic Army for the Liberation of the Holy Places
World Islamic Front for Jihad Against Jews and Crusaders
    Islamic Salvation Foundation
    Usama bin Laden Network

Al-Qa'ida is multi-national, with members from numerous countries and with a worldwide presence. Senior leaders in the organization are also senior leaders in other terrorist organizations, including those designated by the Department of State as foreign terrorist organizations, such as the Egyptian al-Gama'at al-Islamiyya and the Egyptian al-Jihad. Al-Qa'ida seeks a global radicalization of existing Islamic groups and the creation of radical Islamic groups where none exist.

Al-Qa'ida supports Muslim fighters in Afghanistan, Bosnia, Chechnya, Tajikistan, Somalia, Yemen, and Kosovo. It also trains members of terrorist organizations from such diverse countries as the Philippines, Algeria, and Eritrea.

Al-Qa'ida's goal is to "unite all Muslims and to establish a government which follows the rule of the Caliphs." Bin Laden has stated that the only way to establish the Caliphate is by force. Al-Qa'ida's goal, therefore, is to overthrow nearly all Muslim governments, which are viewed as corrupt, to drive Western influence from those countries, and eventually to abolish state boundaries.

    Description

Established by Usama Bin Ladin in the late 1980s to bring together Arabs who fought in Afghanistan against the Soviet Union. Helped finance, recruit, transport, and train Sunni Islamic extremists for the Afghan resistance. Current goal is to establish a pan-Islamic Caliphate throughout the world by working with allied Islamic extremist groups to overthrow regimes it deems 뱊on-Islamic and expelling Westerners and non-Muslims from Muslim countries뻪articularly Saudi Arabia. Issued statement under banner of 뱓he World Islamic Front for Jihad Against the Jews and Crusaders in February 1998, saying it was the duty of all Muslims to kill US citizens뾠ivilian or military뾞nd their allies everywhere. Merged with Egyptian Islamic Jihad (Al-Jihad) in June 2001.

In Haifa, the Israeli commander ordered, “Kill any Arab you encounter.”

  13. The organization’s claims infuriated many Mizrahi Israelis who defined themselves as Zionists. As early as 1975, at the time of WOJAC’s formation, Knesset speaker Yisrael Yeshayahu declared: “We are not refugees. [Some of us] came to this country before the state was born. We had messianic aspirations.”

Shlomo Hillel, a government minister and an active Zionist in Iraq, adamantly opposed the analogy: “I don’t regard the departure of Jews from Arab lands as that of refugees. They came here because they wanted to, as Zionists.”

In a Knesset hearing, Ran Cohen stated emphatically: “I have this to say: I am not a refugee.” He added: “I came at the behest of Zionism, due to the pull that this land exerts, and due to the idea of redemption. Nobody is going to define me as a refugee.”
    ….
Any reasonable person, Zionist or non-Zionist, must acknowledge that the analogy drawn between Palestinians and Mizrahi Jews is unfounded. Palestinian refugees did not want to leave Palestine. Many Palestinian communities were destroyed in 1948, and some 700,000 Palestinians were expelled, or fled, from the borders of historic Palestine. Those who left did not do so of their own volition.

In contrast, Jews from Arab lands came to this country under the initiative of the State of Israel and Jewish organizations. Some came of their own free will; others arrived against their will. Some lived comfortably and securely in Arab lands; others suffered from fear and oppression.

  14. According to your new findings, how many cases of Israeli rape were there in 1948?

“About a dozen. In Acre four soldiers raped a girl and murdered her and her father. In Jaffa, soldiers of the Kiryati Brigade raped one girl and tried to rape several more. At Hunin, which is in the Galilee, two girls were raped and then murdered. There were one or two cases of rape at Tantura, south of Haifa. There was one case of rape at Qula, in the center of the country. At the village of Abu Shusha, near Kibbutz Gezer [in the Ramle area] there were four female prisoners, one of whom was raped a number of times. And there were other cases. Usually more than one soldier was involved. Usually there were one or two Palestinian girls. In a large proportion of the cases the event ended with murder. Because neither the victims nor the rapists liked to report these events, we have to assume that the dozen cases of rape that were reported, which I found, are not the whole story. They are just the tip of the iceberg.”

According to your findings, how many acts of Israeli massacre were perpetrated in 1948?

“Twenty-four. In some cases four or five people were executed, in others the numbers were 70, 80, 100. There was also a great deal of arbitrary killing. Two old men are spotted walking in a field – they are shot. A woman is found in an abandoned village – she is shot. There are cases such as the village of Dawayima [in the Hebron region], in which a column entered the village with all guns blazing and killed anything that moved.

“The worst cases were Saliha (70-80 killed), Deir Yassin (100-110), Lod (250), Dawayima (hundreds) and perhaps Abu Shusha (70). There is no unequivocal proof of a large-scale massacre at Tantura, but war crimes were perpetrated there. At Jaffa there was a massacre about which nothing had been known until now. The same at Arab al Muwassi, in the north. About half of the acts of massacre were part of Operation Hiram [in the north, in October 1948]: at Safsaf, Saliha, Jish, Eilaboun, Arab al Muwasi, Deir al Asad, Majdal Krum, Sasa. In Operation Hiram there was a unusually high concentration of executions of people against a wall or next to a well in an orderly fashion.

“That can’t be chance. It’s a pattern. Apparently, various officers who took part in the operation understood that the expulsion order they received permitted them to do these deeds in order to encourage the population to take to the roads. The fact is that no one was punished for these acts of murder. Ben-Gurion silenced the matter. He covered up for the officers who did the massacres.”

What you are telling me here, as though by the way, is that in Operation Hiram there was a comprehensive and explicit expulsion order. Is that right?

“Yes. One of the revelations in the book is that on October 31, 1948, the commander of the Northern Front, Moshe Carmel, issued an order in writing to his units to expedite the removal of the Arab population. Carmel took this action immediately after a visit by Ben-Gurion to the Northern Command in Nazareth. There is no doubt in my mind that this order originated with Ben-Gurion. Just as the expulsion order for the city of Lod, which was signed by Yitzhak Rabin, was issued immediately after Ben-Gurion visited the headquarters of Operation Dani [July 1948].”

Are you saying that Ben-Gurion was personally responsible for a deliberate and systematic policy of mass expulsion?

“From April 1948, Ben-Gurion is projecting a message of transfer. There is no explicit order of his in writing, there is no orderly comprehensive policy, but there is an atmosphere of [population] transfer. The transfer idea is in the air. The entire leadership understands that this is the idea. The officer corps understands what is required of them. Under Ben-Gurion, a consensus of transfer is created.”

    Ben-Gurion was a “transferist”?

“Of course. Ben-Gurion was a transferist. He understood that there could be no Jewish state with a large and hostile Arab minority in its midst. There would be no such state. It would not be able to exist.”

I don’t hear you condemning him.

“Ben-Gurion was right. If he had not done what he did, a state would not have come into being. That has to be clear. It is impossible to evade it. Without the uprooting of the Palestinians, a Jewish state would not have arisen here.”

  15. On January 14, 1951, at about seven in the evening, a bomb – or perhaps it was a hand grenade – was tossed into the open courtyard of the Masuda Shemtov synagogue in Baghdad. The courtyard served as a gathering place for Jews, prior to their departure for the airport, on their way to Israel. At the time of the terror attack, the place was filled with several hundred people. Four of them, including a 12-year-old boy, were killed; about 10 were wounded. The Iraqi authorities blamed two activists from the Zionist underground, and had them executed.

The British embassy in Baghdad relayed to London its own assessment of the motives behind the attack: Activists of the Zionist movement wanted to highlight the danger for the Jews of Iraq, in order to spur the State of Israel to accelerate the pace of their immigration. At the time, there was serious debate in Israel on this issue and some wished to slow down the rate of emigration from Iraq.

  16. n May and June 1951, the arms caches of the Zionist underground in Iraq, which had been supplied from Palestine/Israel since the Farhud of 1941, were discovered. Many Jews were arrested and two Zionist activists, Yusuf Basri and Ibrahim Salih, were tried and hanged for three of the bombings, all of which happened after the expiration of the law. A secret Israeli inquiry in 1960 reported that most of the witnesses believed that Jews had been responsible for the bombings, but found no evidence that they were ordered by Israel.[67] The issue remains unresolved: some Iraqi activists in Israel still regularly charge that Israel used violence to engineer the exodus, while Israeli officials of the time vehemently deny it. According to historian Moshe Gatt, few historians believe that Israel was actually behind the bombing campaign—based on factors such as records indicating that Israel did not want such a rapid registration rate and that bomb throwing at Jewish targets was common before 1950, making the Istiqlal Party or the CID a more likely culprit than the Zionist underground. In any case, the remainder of Iraq's Jews left over the next few decades. and had mostly gone by 1970. In 1969 eleven Jews were hanged, nine of them on January 27 in the public squares of Baghdad and Basra. The 2,500 remnant of the community almost entirely fled shortly there after

UNITED NATIONS – New research shows there was Arab inter-state "collusion" to persecute Jews in Arab countries after Israel's creation, former federal justice minister Irwin Cotler and Jewish rights scholars will announce today in New York.

While it is known up to 850,000 Jews left Arab countries after the post-war division of the Palestine mandate, the group is holding a news conference to highlight a rediscovered Arab League "draft law" that suggests a pan-Arab conspiracy was at play.

The new assessment comes just ahead of a major Israeli-Palestinian peace conference in Annapolis, Md., where the rights of millions of descendants of up to 600,000 Palestinian refugees of the Arab-Israeli conflict will be discussed — but not the rights of Jews squeezed from Arab countries.

Without the inter-Arab draft, the measures individual Arab states took against their Jewish citizens may not have been so widespread, the researchers will say. Only 8,000 Jews remain in 10 Arab countries today that once hosted many more.

"We will show that the various state sanctions in Arab countries did not occur haphazardly, but were the result of an international collusion organized by the League of Arab States at the time to set in place a blueprint for the denationalization of their Jewish nationals, the sequestrations of their property and the declaration of Jews as enemies of the state," Mr. Cotler said.

The Hebron massacre refers to the murder of sixty-seven Jews on 23 and 24 August 1929 in Hebron, then part of the British Mandate of Palestine, by Arabs incited to violence by false rumors that Jews were massacring Arabs[1] in Jerusalem and seizing control of Muslim holy places. This massacre, together with that of Safed, sent shock waves through Jewish communities in Palestine and across the world.

60 Jews were wounded and Jewish homes and synagogues were ransacked; Nineteen local Arab families saved 435 Jews by hiding them in their houses even under their own life risk.[2] [3]

“Zionist factions competed for the honor of allying to Hitler. By 1940-41, the “Stern Gang,” among them Yitzhak Shamir, later Prime Minister of Israel, presented the Nazis with the “Fundamental Features of the Proposal of the National Military Organization in Palestine (Irgun Zvai Leumi) Concerning the Solution of the Jewish Question in Europe and the Participation of the NMO in the War on the Side of Germany.”

Avraham Stern and his followers announced that

“The NMO, which is well-acquainted with the goodwill of the German Reich government and its authorities towards Zionist activity inside Germany and towards Zionist emigration plans, is of the opinion that:

    1. Common interests could exist between the establishment of a new order in Europe in conformity with the German concept, and the true national aspirations of the Jewish people as they are embodied by the NMO.

    2. Cooperation between the new Germany and a renewed folkish-national Hebraium would be possible and,

    3. The establishment of the historic Jewish state on a national and totalitarian basis, bound by a treaty with the German Reich, would be in the interest of a maintained and strengthened future German position of power in the Near East.”

“IRONICALLY, the shocking truth is that it has been proven that the Jewish Stern gang received funding and arms from the Italian Fascists to resist the British Mandate in Palestine. In fact, the Stern gang’s collaboration with the Fascists and Nazis was going on while their Jewish brothers were being persecuted in Nazi concentration camps. It should also be noted that when the Americans, British, and their Arab allies were busy blocking the Desert Fox’s (Erwin Rommel) advances in north Africa, the Stern gang’s leader Yitzhak Shamir and the Irgun gang’s leader Menachem Begin were busy ambushing British soldiers, blowing up the vital Haifa-Cairo railroad supply line, and terrorizing British and Palestinian civilians (Righteous Victims, p. 174). And when Yitzhak Shamir, Israel’s future Prime Minister in the 1980s, was asked to explain their collaboration with the Fascists, he replied:

“The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” (One Palestine Complete , p. 464).

Since these findings have only have only JUST started to surface lately (and are kept smothered in many Jewish communities), we feel it’s necessary to directly quote one of the MOST pro-Israel historians, Martin Gilbert, who wrote:

“Avraham Stern who had formed a breakaway ‘Irgun in Israel’ movement (also known as the Stern Gang), tried to make contact with Fascist Italy in the hope that, if Mussolini were to conquer the Middle East, he would allow a Jewish State to be set up in Palestine. When Mussolini’s troops were defeated in North Africa, Stern tried to make contacts with Nazi Germany, hoping to sign a pact with Hitler which would lead to a Jewish State once Hitler had defeated Britain. After two members of the Stern’s Gang had killed the Tel Aviv [British] police chief and two of his officers, Stern himself was caught and killed. His followers [chief among them Yitzhak Shamir who led the Stern Gang after Stern’s death] continued on their path of terror.” (Israel: A History, p. 111-112)

Those critical of al-Hajj Amin Husseini should acquaint themselves with the circumstances and events that caused him to seek sanctuary in Hitler’s Berlin, including being chased throughout the Middle East by the British for his role in the Palestinian resistance, e.g., the Great Rebellion of 1936. Nor should it be forgotten that following the war, his relationship with the Nazis was seen as being of such little consequence that he was never sought out by officials at Nuremberg. He lived out his last days in Beirut. Zionists continually point their fingers at al-Hajj Amin Husseini and unjustly malign him while ignoring the documented collusion with Nazis and Mussolini’s thugs on the part of the Stern Gang (including future Israeli PM, Yitzhak Shamir – real name Yitzhak Yzernitzky) and its betrayal of fellow Jews in Europe.

“The Third Congress of the Jewish Communities of the Far East welcomes the Great Empire of the Rising Sun’s aspiration for the establishment of peace and a new order in East Asia …. The Third Congress … calls on the Jewry of the Far East to actively participate in establishing the new order and in building East Asia, guided by the principle of struggle against the Comintern, in close collaboration with all nations.”

  20. In fact, the British promoted the economic destabilization of the indigenous Palestinian economy in favor of Zionist settlers as a colonial tactic well before the creation of Israel. “The Mandatory Government granted a privileged status to Jewish capital, awarding it 90% of the concessions in Palestine,” writes Ralph Schoenman (The Hidden History of Zionism). “This enabled the Zionists to gain control of the economic infrastructure (road projects, Dead Sea minerals, electricity, ports, etc.). By 1935, Zionists controlled 872 of a total of 1,212 industrial firms in Palestine. Imports related to Zionist industries were exempted from taxes. Discriminatory work laws were passed against the Arab workforce resulting in large scale unemployment and a substandard existence for those who were able to find employment.”

These conditions, and the awareness that the Zionists intended to grab as much land as possible, led directly to the Arab uprisings of 1936 and 1939. The British declared martial law in response and sent in an estimated 20,000 troops. “Anyone suspected of organizing or sympathizing with the general strike or other resistance was detained,” explains Schoenman. “Houses were blown up throughout Palestine. The British destroyed a large section of the city of Jaffa on June 18, 1936, rendering 6,000 people homeless. Homes, as well, in the surrounding communities were demolished.”

    http://www.counterpunch.org/nimmo05272003.html

As if to add insult to injury, and to send a message to the Arabs, the British employed Zionists as a local police force. According to Ghassan Kanafani (The 1936-1939 Revolt in Palestine), this Zionist “quasi-police force” consisted of 2,863 recruits. 12,000 men were organized in the Haganah, and 3,000 in Jabotinsky’s National Military Organization (Irgun). Again, to make certain the Arabs knew what to expect, these Zionist paramilitary “police” forces were named the “Defense of the Jewish Colonies,” and later the “Colony Police.”

“Between ourselves it must be clear that there is no room for both peoples together in this country,” Joseph Weitz, the head of the Jewish Agency’s Colonization Department, said in 1940 (A Solution to the Refugee Problem, Dal’ar, September 29, 1967). “We shall not achieve our goal if the Arabs are in this small country. There is no other way than to transfer the Arabs from here to neighboring countries — all of them. Not one village, not one tribe should be left.” In fact, by 1948, “there were 475 Palestinian villages and towns,” notes Schoenman. “Of these, 385 were razed to the ground, reduced to rubble.” The so-called “Koenig Report” (“the master plan for the Judaization of the Galilee,” according to Israeli historian Dr. Israel Shahak), states that the Zionists “must use terror, assassination, intimidation, land confiscation and the cutting of all social services to rid the Galilee of its Arab population.”

Operation Cleaning, (also known as Mivtza Nikayon Hebrew: מבצע נקיון‎), is a massacre committed by Israeli troops on Palestinian refugees in August 1948. It happened in what is now Ashdod, Israel.

During the 1948 Arab-Israeli War after the Israeli Declaration of Independence, the Palestinians were forced to leave Ashdod to escape the fighting. The Palestinians had lived in Ashdod until the Zionist Jews took over the British Mandate of Palestine. When the Palestinian refugees returned Israeli soldiers in the Giv’ati Brigade conducting what they called Mivtza Nikayon — Operation Cleaning–to Palestinian refugees just north of the Egyptian lines, in what now Ashdod. The Palestinians had returned to Ashdod (now beolonging to Israel) during a United Nations-sanctioned truce in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. [1]The Palestinians had returned to their village, now in Israeli hands, because their animals were there, and because there were crops to harvest and because they were hungry. The Israeli troops, however, killed the Palestinian refugees, and then burned their homes. None of the Palestinians were soldiers; most were children. [2] This unprovoked massacre created deep resentment and anger among the Palestinians towards the Israelis.

On November 6, 1948, Nachmani wrote: “In Safsaf, after … the inhabitants had raised a white flag, the [soldiers] collected and separated the men and women, tied the hands of fifty-sixty fellahin [peasants] and shot and killed them and buried them in a pit. Also, they raped several women…” After listing alleged atrocities in other villages—Eilaboun, Farradiyya, and Saliha—Nachmani writes: “Where did they come by such a measure of cruelty, like Nazis? … Is there no more humane way of expelling the inhabitants than by such methods?”[4]

Moshe Erem reported on the massacre to a meeting of the Mapam Political Committee but his words were removed from the minutes. According to notes of the meeting taken by Aharon Cohen, Erem spoke of: “Safsaf 52 men tied together with a rope. Pushed down a well and shot. 10 killed. Women pleaded for mercy. 3 cases of rape . . . . A girl of 14 raped. Another four killed.”[5]

  22. Nineteen local Arab families saved 435 Jews by hiding them in their houses even under their own life risk.[2] [3]

The survivors were evacuated from Hebron by the British authorities. Many returned in 1931, but almost all left again during 1936–1939.[4] It also led to the re-organization and development of the Jewish paramilitary organization!(the terrorist organization)emphasis added, the Haganah, which later became the nucleus of the Israel !

  23. Mufti of Jerusalem Hajj Amin's Role as an Instigator of the Shoah (Holocaust)
    by Jared Israel

    [2 December 2003]

    ========================================================

There is overwhelming documentation of the role of Hajj Amin al-Husseini, the Mufti of Jerusalem, as a leading instigator of Nazi mass murders.

For example, during UN Security Council discussions in 1947, the Nation Associates, which owned what is now The Nation magazine, presented photostats of letters written by Hajj Amin al-Husseini, proving his complicity in the murder of hundreds of thousands of Jews. The text of one such letter is posted below.

As you read this letter, please note the understated language. The Mufti was arguing against allowing Hungarian Jews to "escape" (his term). Instead they should be sent "to other countries where they would find themselves under active control, for example, in Poland." The phrase of note is "active control." Poland was the site of Chelmno, Treblinka, Sobibór, Majdanek, Belzec and of course Auschwitz-Birkenau, to name just the six biggest death camps. All of my Polish relatives succumbed to "active control" at these Nazi death camps.

The 1948 Arab–Israeli War, known by Israelis as the War of Independence (Hebrew: מלחמת העצמאות‎, Milhamat HaAtzma'ut) or War of Liberation (Hebrew: מלחמת השחרור‎, Milhamat HaShahrur) and by Palestinians as the Catastrophe (Arabic: النكبة‎, al-Nakba), was the first in a series of wars fought between the newly declared State of Israel and its Arab neighbours in the long-running Arab-Israeli conflict.

The war commenced upon the termination of the British Mandate of Palestine in mid-May 1948 following a previous phase of civil war in 1947–1948. After the Arab rejection of the 1947 United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine (UN General Assembly Resolution 181) that would have created an Arab state and a Jewish state side by side, five Arab states invaded the territory of the former British Mandate of Palestine.

Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria attacked the state of Israel, leading to fighting mostly on the former territory of the British Mandate and for a short time also on the Sinai Peninsula and southern Lebanon.[citation needed] The war concluded with the 1949 Armistice Agreements, but it did not mark the end of the Arab-Israeli conflict

  25. Arab Massacres of Jews before 1948
    18 August 2007

Arabs and their sympathizers often like to talk about massacres that happened to the Palestinian people in 1948 and before. People familiar with the history of the Israel-Arab conflict have no doubt heard about Deir Yassin – it is the quintessential Jewish “massacre” of Palestinians. These people would have you believe that the Arabs were totally innocent in this war, but of course, the truth is quite the opposite. Unfortunately, Jews and Israelis have made little of the Palestinian massacres of Jews before 1948 of which there were many. This list contains a number of massacres of Jews by the hands of Arabs only between when the UN partition plan was passed (November 29, 1947), and by May 15, 1948. The list is probably incomplete, so updates are welcome (Source: Seth Frantzman, Jerusalem Post Guest Column).

December 1947 – Small kibbutzim were subjected to attacks – Gvulot, Ben-Shemen, Holon, Safed, Bat Yam and Kfar Yavetz. Sixty-two Jews were murdered by Arabs around Palestine.

December 30, 1947 – 39 Jews were killed by Arab rioters at Haifa’s oil refinery

January 16, 1948 – 35 Jews were killed trying to reach Gush Etzion

    February 22, 1948 – 44 Jews were murdered in a bombing on Jerusalem’s Rehov Ben-Yehuda

February 29, 1948 – 23 Jews were killed all across Palestine, eight of them at the Hayotzek iron foundry.

January and February 1948 – Rishon Lezion, Yehiam, Mishmar Hayarden, Tirat Zvi, Sde Eliahu, Ein Hanatziv, Magdiel, Mitzpe Hagalil and Ma’anit were all subjected to attacks. Arab attackers also bombedThe Palestine Post
April 13, 1948 – 35 Jew were murdered during the Mount Scopus convoy massacre

March and April – Assault on Hartuv by 400 Arabs based in the village of Ishwa and an attack on Kfar Darom by members of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Jewish Agency, the Solel Boneh building in Haifa and an Egged bus were bombed.

May 15, 1948 – 127 Jews were massacred at Kfar Etzion, after 30 others had died defending the Etzion Bloc.

During this timespan(November 29, 1947 to May 15, 1948), a total of 1,256 Jews had been killed, most of them civilians. These deaths were caused by Arab militias, gangs, terrorists and army units which attacked every place of Jewish inhabitation in Palestine. During this time, all Jewish villages in the Negev were attacked, and Jews had to go about the country in convoys. In every major city where Jews and Arabs lived in mixed neighborhoods the Jewish areas came under attack. This was true in Haifa’s Hadar Hacarmel as well as Jerusalem’s Old City.

The above list does not include Jews killed and synagogues burned in Arab countries during the timespan in question. However, it is known thatmore than 100 Jews were massacred and synagogues were burned in Aleppo and Aden, driving thousands of Jews from their homes.
