Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut may be the most destructive politician in the United States. Combining the worst ideas of the right, the left, and the religious, he essentially seeks to punitively tax the world in order to bomb it for the sake of Israel. Despite Lieberman’s “dual” loyalty — in quotes because I suspect he’s truly only loyal to the Jewish State — the voters of Connecticut chose him to represent them in Congress even though his own Democratic Party booted him off their ticket in favor of a pro-peace candidate.
Comfortable advocating mass murder with that creepy smile under both Bush and Obama, in light of the Fort Hood massacre, Lieberman seems to be primarily concerned not with PTSD and mental health issues in the armed forces in general, not with internecine abuse in Army ranks, not with whether or not the military should let go of conscientious objectors before they literally go ballistic, but whether or not Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan’s crazed actions could be technically classified as (Islamic) terrorism. Muslims in the military are rightly on edge.
As Maj. Hasan’s beliefs likely influenced, in part, his actions, so do Sen. Lieberman’s. Watch out Nidal, the senator from Connecticut has his own jihad, and his Gitmo finger is itchy.

I find it amazing that Lieberman chose to give the middle finger to his constituency – most of whom are left-leaning poor and working class people – by deciding to oppose a public option in the new Health Care reform bill, something that most of them undoubtedly support given their economic situation. Catering to their domestic issues has been his method of getting elected so he could fight for israel internationally. Now it's middle fingers all around for everybody, including those who voted for him. Now that's chutzpah.

Malik was a major, which is a pretty senior officer rank. If he enlisted out of high school and is age 39 now, that's about 20 years in the US Army.
A doctor degree enters the military as a Captain. He has been promoted once only. He is not in a command position.
I've heard that there has been some severe spin wrt the shooting. The alternate story goes that there were two enlisted men, something like privates or corporals that wanted to get out of the Army the way that Ehren Watada did, using him as the precedent. Apparently, this Hasan guy was their counselor, trying to talk them back into going to Iraq/Afghanistan or wherever. At one point, they flipped out and started shooting up the place. Hasan was just in the way. He was one of the people shot. When they thought he was dead, they cooked up the 'crazed Muslim' spin so that they didn't have a 'crazed deserter/mutiny' story on their hands. But Hasan isn't dead like they thought. So IF he ever wakes up, we might get a different story out of him, but it's doubtful.
Juice, I heard part of that story too a few days ago; that Hasan was counselling two conscientious objectors. There was no mention of them being the shooters, though. But It may explain why the police first claimed that a .357 and a 9mm were the guns that had been used. You'd think they would know the difference.
The other story which I heard very shortly after the killings was that according to witnesses, rather than Hasan saying "Allahu Akbar," he was instead shouting over and over, "I'm not fucking going!" Today, I read a bedside interview with a young soldier who had been shot. When asked what he heard Hasan say, he claimed that he couldn't quite make out what was being shouted. The "Allahu Akbar" is very convenient though, isn't it.
As for Lieberman, he sickens me. I tend to agree with Jeremy that he is a true Israeli patriot who couldn't care less about his own country. I was amazed when he was reelected to the Senate. I am further amazed that he has kept his committee appointments and hasn't been run out of town on a rail by his own Democrats.
Intial reports stated that there two other people who were detained,but some how that story disappeared into the memory hole of the press.Is not strange that in matter of few hours,at the speed of light,all revaltions about this alleged shooter was uncovered by the same media that would not make public the lies of the Bush regime leading to the war against Iraq.We are suposed to believe what this media telling now when it was the one that kept drilling into minds of the American public the connection between Sadam and Osama which most Americans believed that lie as well as many others and undoubtly the new ones.

And finally, being the incumbant, he tried to paint the possible downside to CT of someone in Chairmanship positions – all the good he could do for us (yeah, that turned out just great) As a result, he maintained 30% of the DEM vote, got 66% of the R vote and about 40 % of independents.
