Will Obama break all his past records for BS tonight when he gives his speech on Libya at 7:30 pm? (Eastern)
He will be speaking to the most servile audience he could find – uniformed military officers at the National Defense University. The room will be full of people who are owned lock, stock, and barrel by the government. The officers have spent their lives working for Uncle Sam, and they know that a single ill-time hoot during Obama’s talk could end their careers.
Obama is following in the footsteps of George W. Bush, who also used the uniformed officers as stage props for his most deceptive foreign policy addresses.
It is unfortunate that there is not a pervasive backlash against this type of exploitation. There no longer seems to be any BS radar regarding presidents and warring.
Hi Mr. Bovard:
You say, "It is unfortunate that there is not a pervasive backlash against this type of exploitation. There no longer seems to be any BS radar regarding presidents and warring."
Ummm, there sort of is backlash. However, bulls*#t warmongering lying dips*#t presidents are NOT listening. Neither is Congress. Nor mainstream infojournaltainment concerns, nor the really REALLY important punditry wizards. Like say a Juan Cole or any of the 'progressive' allegedly antiwar persona. That is NOT to include Antiwar.com and oh no.
There is a huge backlash about what Amerika is doing, whom Amerika is doing it to, and those backlashers and/or backlashees are summarily dismissed as stupid, ignorant, knuckledragging cracker-assed ninnies, and anyone out of sync with the "privileged classes" that control all that our once great nation is about the business of. You know, like blasting the bejeepers out of third world nobodies and all them there really icky Muslim types. I can say that you see on account of Juan Cole says I'm ignorant.

He's only a little more than halfway through his tenure as sock puppet-in-chief, so I have to believe that we still have yet to see his worst performance.
I'm tempted to say that you have it exactly backwards here: Obama is the servile one. The uniformed thugs who will attendance the performance are representatives of the MIC puppeteers who pull his strings: they own Obama and the rest of the "government" (read: facade for the puppeteers) lock, stock, and barrel. Should the sock puppet feel a surge of independent thought and dare consider uttering something not within the script set down for him, the uniformed thugs are there to remind him that he'd better stay in his place and play his assigned role if he knows what's good for him – and, no doubt, his family.
I just heard part of the speech and the hypocrisy was thick as usual. Obama said that if Gaddafi murdered his own people that it would be a stain on the world or something like that, I think he even claimed he got congressional approval though perhaps I didn’t hear correctly. If he did, that’s certainly news to me. I must not have heard it right. He claims we won’t use force to remove Gaddafi, which is very funny if you think about it considering the bombardment we have been dealing out.
Naturally there was no mention of the murderous attack on Gaza at the beginning of the Obama presidency where the world stood by, and which we condoned. There was no talk of that hideous slaughter staining the world. If congress had any guts they would impeach Obama but we know that will never happen. I figure we have Obama for eight lovely years.
Ah – but AIPAC and Israel and the Jews control America! Israel attacking Lebanon and killing over 1000 civilians – the killing done with weapons supplied by the US – NO protest about that!
The Republicans will not defeat Obama in the 2012 elections – they will nominate some idiot as their candidate!
I agree with you completely, well said.
Of course there is NO WAY he would make this speech in public TO the public- you just know there would be no way to hear him over the heckling and catcalls during his speech. That's not even taking in to account the noise from all the sirens on the police cars bringing cope to arrest people, and sirens from ambulances taking people out that the police are 'detaining' and who just happen to slip and hurt themselves.
(At the risk of invoking Godwin's Law, notice how much better a rating Hitler had with the German people? He rode around in an unarmored open-topped car with people just feet away, gave speeches from wide-open platforms, had guests in and out of his house all through the years, went for unaccompanied hikes in the woods…. you get the idea. Does Obama feel that comfortable with his status among the American people to do ANY of these things? If not, why doesn't he? Isn't he supposed to be the Beloved Son of America?)
The man is such a hypocritical swine. When WE blow up innocents by his logic we should be bombing ourselves. And thats exactly what we're doing time after time. Just looking at the Rolling Stone feature about the Kill Team and I wanted to both weep and vomit. THIS is the face of America the world sees and not the Ken and Barbie Info-droids and their gushing non-news. I'm so glad I don't pay for cable or satellite TeeVee and have myself intellectually raped while being robbed. And it is indeed telling that people who we call despots and dictators in days of yore didn't employ the global Stasi-like machine that the "Land of the Knave" does. Not to say they wouldn't if they had the chance.
I wonder what methods Obama would use to pacify the streets if a good portion of the American public were to rise up demanding governmental reform beginning with his stepping down from office. What would he do when the police start shooting at crowds, killing a few protesters, and the protesters start shooting back in force? How long will it be before the Air Force is involved in the mess?
Somehow, I don't see Mexico or Canada enforcing a No-Fly Zone over America. We're pretty much on our own, boys and girls- make it count.
Obama's biggest scam came when his Saudi friends bought Raymond Davis out of trouble. One suspects they weren't only buying his freedom, but his silence, and an end to the Pakistani investigations in the bargain, along with Obama's gratitude and his acquiescence to the butchery in Bahrain. According to mainstream Indian and Pakistani publications, Davis is implicated in plotting false-flag terrorist attacks against civilians in Pakistan to create a pretext for further US aggression; we have also recently learned that one of the bloodiest terrorists in Afghanistan has long been on the US payroll. If substantiated, those conspiracies could result in felony charges, possibly capital, against people at the highest levels of our government.
An independent counsel investigation into this tangled, sordid web is urgently needed, and the House Republicans might well vote for one for political, rather than principled, reasons. The resulting publicity would assure that many, if not most, Democrats would support Obama's and possibly Biden's removal to ensure their own political survival. Interestingly, if Biden were also implicated and removed, that would make Boehner president. Not a pleasant thought, but he wouldn't be all that different from Obama, since both serve the same masters. And a scandal of such magnitude–the most egregious in our history–just might lead to much needed paradigm shifts on constitutional rights, international law, accountability and our relationship with the rest of the world. Not a bad tradeoff, in my view.
Obama's biggest scam occurred in November of 2008.
Anyone care to decypher this statement from Barack Obama?
“Change has Come to America!”
The only change I can see is that the worst crimes of the Bush/Cheney régime are not only unpunished but expanded and institutionalized as de facto law.
The man is a Neo-Con/Zionist/Militarist puppet masquerading as a Liberal.
I visited there and it is not as bad as you make it sound. There are partisan hypocrites there among the few bloggers commenting on the subject, as well as among reader comments, but there are as many (maybe more) who are criticizing Obama. For example, there is a blog post by Dennis Kucinich criticizing Obama. Then take a look at many readers' comments criticizing the "anti-war but pro-Libya intervention" hypocrisy of this blog: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/tom-matzzie/antiwar…
I wonder what other people are saying about this. It would be interesting to know. Thanks so much for this!
