Libya’s US-Backed Militias Terrorize the Country

Los Angeles Times on how horrible Libya is post-U.S. liberation:

Rising inter-tribal violence has left scores dead. About 100 people were reported killed last month when rival tribes battled with machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades in the remote southern town of Kufra, probably for control of lucrative arms-smuggling and human-trafficking routes in the vast empty spaces near the Chadian and Sudanese borders.

…A spate of torture, arbitrary arrests, wanton destruction of property and summary execution has beset the country, engendering an environment of impunity while ensuring that Libya’s people remain trapped within the violent logic of last year’s insurgency.

See here and here for some other of my recent Libya commentary.

  1. How are you going to keep "them" down on the farm after they've seen 'humanitarian intervention'.

  2. US needs a training ground for its supported terrorist groups, the Iranian MEK or others would be trained in Libya for war with Iran and Syria. People wont see it but there are reports that US and EU are even involved in training these elements of destructions in Jordan and Turkey; hey this is democracy in level with what the US democracy and or EU democracy is about, stat militarism hand in hand with vulture capitalism and terrorism at its best.

  3. "Torture, arbitrary arrests, wanton destruction of property and summary execution" are all a big part of "freedom"… Duh… Get with the program chief.

  4. Sounds a lot like the drug wars in Mexico now spilling over into the U.S. How long before the ATF-armed Mexican gangs start inflicting this kind of violence on Americans in a major way since the American military is off protecting Israel's borders?

  5. Every place the US and now NATO intervenes turns into wanton mass murder, torture, displacements, and renditions, and yes, we have our own terrorists who are out terrorizing families.

This heinous nonsense of continuous war crimes has been going on for far too long, under both political parties, which means that the American people should be held accountable, just as they held the German people accountable for their government´s war crimes in WW-II.

  6. I wonder if this fact is included in Tom Hanks' 17-minute mini-movie love fest to the president?

  7. I agree with that Rejoice that we must aware and involved with this because we dont know someday we encounter this..

  9. The USA's and EU's interventions are not 'humanitarian' interventions', they are 'inhumane' interventions'.
