KSM’s Lawyers Request UN Investigation of Gitmo Torture

Via Ben Armbruster, it is revealed that lawyers for alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed have written to the UN special rapporteur on torture asking for an investigation into his torture at Guantanamo Bay, which included being water boarded 183 plus 7.5 straight days of sleep deprivation in a secret CIA prison. AFP:

The letter asks that the special UN rapporteur “initiate a full, fair and impartial inquiry” into both US conduct and that of “any other potentially complicit state party to the Convention (against Torture).”

“After subjecting Mr. Mohammed to torture and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment following his capture on March 1, 2003 in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, the US government has silenced him,” reads the letter, a copy of which was obtained by AFP.

“No one without a top secret security clearance is allowed to meet with him or speak to him. His defense attorneys are told to treat his every word as ‘presumptively top secret,'” the letter adds, inviting Mendez to meet the most famous detainee at Guantanamo.

  1. And how will the World's Best Country Ever respond to this insolence?
No worries. Don't like what they say? DRONE 'EM. That'll show 'em who's civilized.

  2. .told to treat his every word as ‘presumptively top secret,’ …I can recall Karen Kwiatkowski saying out loud, on audio: ~'when I was involved in classifying information, it was always about covering up criminal activity.' (close to her wording, her emphasis, and she's not prone to generalization). I say we can treat their every word presumptively as fraud… …'specially since the head witch doesn't get to speak.
