Posted May 9, 2001 Prick Us…[Do We Not] Bleed? Bush…knows that the so-called "rogue states" including China are no match [for the United States military]. The reason [the] Bush regime is so aggressive and belligerent is that [the weapons] industry is part of [America's economic] backbone. If he does not create [an atmosphere of war], how can those expensive weapons be sold, and [what excuse will he have] to install armies overseas?
Bush is preparing a real war against China. First, he has to create a strong nationalist sentiment and [an] anti-China atmosphere in the USA Second, [he has to] fake a Chinese attack [on the] US military
We do not want war…. This is why our top leader [is] silent [while] Bush is barking for war…We are not nationalistic. [Like] you, we have [a] home and we love our home. [When Americans] love [your] country you claim you are patriotic, [but if we love our country] we are denounced as nationalists… ~ Dawei Li Outraged by the Almost Unbearable Audacity of the Planetarch's Minions I am 39 years old and never felt politically oriented until I was shocked by what has happened in the former Yugoslavia. As someone who has family in Northern Greece I have been almost struck numb by what has happened there. I find the audacity of the Planetarch's minions too much to bear at times, so your website reminds me that I am not alone in my outrage ~ Michael Horsley Doubleplus Ungood Nafta Mr. Raimondo, Your article on 'Quebec Crackpots' is too sweeping… Just review…your own column of Sept. 8th…"For years, the UN and the web of treaties such as NAFTA and the WTO have been chipping away at the concept of national sovereignty…" That is exactly why some of us worry about such a powerful economic bloc as envisaged for the Americas… You say, "It is a commentary on the intellectual poverty of protectionism that its advocates have to resort to this sort of argument, counterposing the perfect as the enemy of the good." Well, we have had some experience with NAFTA here in Canada and it hasn't been that good. Regards from the 'wet' coast, Alexander Cockburn: Gig Disturber …Alexander Cockburn offers logical, unbiased reporting… His coverage of Waco, Iraq, and Yugoslavia tipped me off to look more deeply. …Most citizens have no clue about the truth of America's internal politics. But when they became aware, the gig will be up. ~ASE Would Be Welcomed Dear Editor: …Raimondo's criticism of the "listless youth" for not explicitly protesting the NATO rape of Serbia is solely grounded in speculation and the possible "would be" scenario that Quebec protesters would support the bombing of Serbia! That's crazy! You would be welcomed and cheered if you went to any of these protests and demanded an end to NATO peacekeeping in the Balkans… James Adomian
