Posted June 27, 2001 Both Parties Interventionist [Justin Raimondo] …seems to think that the right [wants] …to end international interventions. …Perhaps true American conservatives (and true liberals almost the same thing?) want this. But they certainly don't constitute the "Right." The overwhelming majority of Americans and, yes, that includes former peace-loving hippies, as well as Reaganites are all stuck on the imperialist line of "making the world safe for democracy." To …declare that the Republicans are peace-loving isolationists and only the Democrats are "interventionists" is an extremely blinkered view of our society. Look at the support for the American invasion of Panama, the Iraq war, and the Balkans mess. I …hope that one day Mr. Raimondo will …abandon old allegiances and call every spade a spade. ~ M.C. The Backtalk editor replies: Mr. Raimondo does criticize Republican interventionism.
FDR Gave Stalin a Pipe …Read Sec. of War Stimson's account at the time they knew of the [Pearl Harbor] attack… FDR was even worse than he is portrayed by arranging hundreds of millions of US dollars to be transferred to the Soviets in aid and money including US treasury printing plates the money which they used to establish themselves after the war. The recorded aid even included "one smoking pipe." ~ J. Howard
Infamous FDR FDR's name should live in eternal infamy merely for one heinous, abominable act: the Hitler-like roundup and "internment" (read: imprisonment) of hundreds of thousands of Japanese-American citizens for years in US concentration camps. Many of these families lost their homes and money to local profiteers because of FDR's dictatorial, racist, tyrannical action, which was the literal rape of every one of their Constitutional rights. Despite this, many Nisei (Japanese-American) young men fought bravely against the Japanese forces they were accused of collaborating with; I believe that the Nisei as a group were the most decorated soldiers of WWII. We must never forget that for this and many more reasons, FDR was arguably the most anti-constitutionalist and therefore anti-American President in our history. (Abraham Lincoln and Bill Clinton may probably share in his disgrace.) ~ M. Grant |
