Posted November 7, 2002 No Plan B Regarding "Neocons of the Left" by Justin Raimondo: I've been checking out your antiwar web page for some time now via Orlin Grabe's web page, and I must say I'm not sure how to take you. I like some of your stuff but I figured you for a commie in the weeds. But now I just got done reading your article "Neocons of the Left" you have rocked my world you're right on the money. I'm a conservative Constitution redneck and once a month I have a kick ass debate with my brother who is a retired union boss (Teamster) Roman Catholic Democrat. We usually go round and round sometimes it gets ugly but we never hold grudges. Well since this 911 action we have been sounding a lot closer in views than we ever have, you see I didn't vote for Bush because I'm tire of the whole global f*ck store and so is he. We decided that the commies and the corporate scum have come together in order to cram their multi task multi culture cr*p up the whole world's ass. Your article has really explained what we have been trying identify for some time: "neocons" these mindless f*cks are all about greed and power left or right and this war is a way to get more of both. Meanwhile here at home we are supposed to zig and zag and and keep a good lookout for some *sshole with some kind of bad intentions. I can't stand today's Republicans and my brother fells the same way about today's Democrats, it's as if there is no "Plan B." ... This doesn't mean I like you but we do have an agreed understanding. The Truth about Corn Regarding "Neocons of the Left" by Justin Raimondo: I read your website daily, and thank you, thank you, thank you for the revealing truth about the traitor, David Corn. As a Los Angeles resident, and reader of the L.A. Weekly, I burn with rage every time I see his stinky articles. The LA Weekly used to be a liberal magazine, (I did an interview with the founder/owner in 1986), but now it is nothing more than the right arm for the Bush Family Evil Empire, employing traitor turncoats like David Corn to do hit pieces on anyone that dares to criticize Bush, Israel, or the GOP. ... ~ Ruben MacBlue, Rock City News Stick to the Point Regarding: "I Ain't Marchin' Anymore" by Justin Raimondo: The Mumia supporters just don't seem to get it. The issue is not whether Mumia Abu Jamal is guilty or innocent, or whether he had a fair trial or was railroaded by a biased witness. It is that it was simply not the time nor place to be discussing Mumia. Fer cryin' out loud, how tough is it at an antiwar demonstration to simply stick to the point!? Knavish Tongue No disrespect intended towards Justin Raimondo, he's an excellent editorialist, but after reading the "corrections" by a couple of writers to Backtalk concerning Mumia Abu Jamal, I'm beginning to wonder what the hell is going on with him? Seems like he courts some bizarre "chip on his shoulder" against "liberal politics" and takes it out on anything he perceives as "left-leaning". He sure seems to carry his grudges against the Left way out of line in my opinion. I suppose every curmudgeon has their own knavish tongue to contend but a little self-immolation may do it some good rather than taking shots at the expense of the injustices of others who may be of a different political stripe. Please don't make social justice a partisan issue of political, ideological correctness. You'll just lose readership in the long run. ~ David d'Apollonia, Dollard-Des-Ormeaux, Quebec, Canada Propaganda Thanks for running again my response to Carl Savich [Backtalk, October 31] and allowing his to mine. I do note he has sort of backed away from whether there was or was not a massacre to the question of the nature of propaganda. I will certainly check out his site. But in advance it doesn't matter if something is "propaganda of the deed," propaganda of the flesh or propaganda of the highest prime number. If it's true, it's true, no matter who says it. Objective reality is the first cause, all others follow. Hitler was right about Stalin being a monster, and vice versa. Mr Savich notes that I did not bring up the Iraqi Incubator hoax. The subject was not Iraq so I didn't bring it up, but I felt it was a hoax before it was publicly exposed as such. On the other hand I did not disbelieve it merely because George non-W Bush said it was true. I do note that the alleged massacre at Orohavac to which Mr. Savich refers, and the Incubator story, are publicly discredited while Racak is not. That is not proof but it does indicate that the truth often does surface over time and Racak so far is only declared a hoax by advocacy groups of one type or another. Not to prolong anything but Mr. Savich's asserted facts on Racak here also do not square with the full measure of available testimony and information but I will turn to his site for a fair and full response. I am not naive about the anti-Serbian bias of the media. I personally heard with grisly shock and an angry reaction a CNN crew member who was visiting Cairo in 1999 say "good they deserve it" when I complained of the ethnic cleansing of Kosovo Serbs by Kosovar Albanians after the NATO victory. Pro-Serbs can add that true story to the repertoire. Nonetheless I do bring this all up to reiterate my point that Antiwar.com is nevertheless too much in bed with the Serbian side of the Yugoslavia (motto: "where everybody hates everybody else") situation in order to merely gainsay American warmaking hegemony. Chetnik, Ustashe -- Goodrich, Goodyear, what's the difference? War Parties are war parties, even when spelled like the letters on eye charts. One does not have to accept every conspiratorial Palestinian contention to challenge Israeli expansionism and repression, or every Pakistani allegation to challenge resurgent Hindu fundamentalism, ditto for Yugoslavia and issues like Racak, and Srebenica and American interventionism. Resounding Jihad The final vote is in. Not since Mohammed has anyone done more for Islam than Dubya Bookcooker. Recent landslide Islamic victories in Pakistan and Turkey are only the beginning. With friends like that, who needs pretzels. It ain't his fault. He was just having some patriotic fun out on the porch, emptying his guns into the Texan night, too drunk to recognize the echo of 'Yeeehaaaaaw!' around the globe; as a resounding Jihad. Department of Peace I have just reviewed G.W. Bush's Inaugural Address. It is interesting to see how syrupy sweet its domestic policies are predicted: He affirms a new commitment to live our nation's promise through civility, courage, compassion and character. Social Security and Medicare will be reformed. America's schools will be reclaimed. Taxes will be reduced. The momentum of our economy will be recovered. and the effort and enterprise of working Americans will be rewarded. Ho hum, so much for the domestic lip service. He also said that weapons of mass destruction would be confronted. My question is, has he done that? Has he confronted England, Germany, France, Russia, Israel, China, Pakistan, India? As best as I can tell, he has not. In fact, he has gone out of his way to be friendly toward all of these. If he has not confronted them, why is he confronting Iraq? He claims to desire a balance of power that favors freedom. Has he favored freedom for the Kurds of Turkey? Has he favored freedom for the citizens of Kuwait? Has he favored freedom for the citizens of Jordan? Has he favored freedom for the citizens of Egypt? Has he favored freedom for the dominated and denigrated people of Israel? Has he favored freedom for the citizens of Colombia? I cannot tell that he has. So why are we proposing to set up a democracy in Iraq? And what about Afghanistan? He claimed in his inauguration speech that he wanted to defend but not to conquer, to protect but not to possess. He also claimed that when we see the wounded traveler on the road to Jericho, we will not pass on the other side. Afghanistan is a nation with a land area and population similar to Texas. He has had control over it for nearly a year now. His military can bring pressure to bear on any location with hardly more than a phone call, but even his top man in USAID claims that Kabul with a population similar to that of Dallas only has one-fourth of its water supply working. The billions dollar aid packages that were so glibly gushed in words have not been followed by deeds of reality. Winter and death are coming on. Why should we believe this man? ... It may be time for the citizens of the United States to begin selecting a leader, a leader that fly the flag of peace. It may be time to establish a Department of Peace to counteract the legacy of war brought about by the last three Republican Presidents. ~ Jim Tanner, Glen Rose, Texas |
