Yeah, how about that? Over three hundred thousand folks over there who are suposed to be in charge and after six years can not even secure the road from the airport to the Green Zone. Never mind the road...not even the Green Zone and the Sadr City suburb. How will we ever get that many people out of there? This is a no exit situation. McCaine's hundred years starts to sound about right. Sam

Wow, so an ordinary blackwater guy in Iraq gets the same salary as General Petraeus...

I had no idea there were 180K blackwater contractors and only 140k US troops in Iraq.

Thanks for a very informative interview

Despite the inefficiencies of government programs, at least there is some level of oversight, with the ability to create additional controls. With privatization, the corporations act as dictatorships, with no ability of the public to redress grievances.

Now, if the government is colluding with corporate interests, and there are endless examples of this, you have the worst of both worlds and that is where we are - corporatism.

Elsewhere Scahill has told of meeting Blackwater agents in New Orleans who "were former members of the Israeli Defense Force". So maybe the Mossad accusation overheard in the Arab world is more than a metaphor.
