Gareth Porter, independent historian and investigative journalist for IPS News and Antiwar.com, deconstructs the incredibly lousy reporting of one Pamela Hess from the Associated Press, whose recent article “Quds, Hezbollah training hit squads in Iran” is in the running for the Olympic Gold Medal in Pentagon stenography and false accusations, explains the complex truth behind the U.S. and Iraqi governments’ relationship with Iran, the 2 and a half year history of the Cheney Cabal’s claims that Iran is responsible for the higher quality land mines in Iraq, the fiction of Mahdi Army “Special Groups,” Maliki’s distancing from the U.S. and thwarting of Cheney’s plan for a major assault on the Mahdi Army this summer, some of the many holes in the AP’s case, Pamela Hess’s justification for helping the Pentagon to cover up and disseminate half-truths and the need for the people who are able to contradict the official line to get their voices out.

  1. They’re all lying. Look at CNN. Georgia ATTACKED Ossettia, leveled a city, killed 2,000 people in cold blood using weapons supplied by the U.S. and Israel, and drove 40,000 of the 70,000 S. Ossettians out of their country and into Russia. These inconvenient facts are completely absent in the reporting here, which conveniently begins at Day 2: Russian aggression. Now Condoleeza Rice is fliting about, threatening to unleash the Dogs of NATO, which was the plan all along. Can’t win in Afganistan or Iraq? Well, get a patsy to do your shock and awe for you, and restart the Cold War! Fascist Media will lie for you and fan the flames of war. I cancelled the paper a year ago. Now I will be turning off the T.V. God ( and the Establishment) only knows what they are subliminally programming into the “new and improved” digital t.v. , anyway.

  2. There is so much to be learned from Gareth Porter, and Scott Horton did a terrific interview. Thanks. I am with Galen above, re newspapers and television. Support antiwar.com radio.

  3. The American media has fallen into the hands of pro-Israel faction. Everything it presents is motivated by what is good for Israel. Look at the ownership of the most influencial papers, major TV networks, etc. Wolf Blitzer should receive the Gold Medal of the “Greater Israel” movement for his one-sided presentations of the facts. The most balanced presenter of International News is the BBC. I sometimes go to CNN just to see what stories their editors want Americans to learn about. On any weekend, just tabulate how many of the analyists or “experts” interviewed on any subject are Israelis or American Jews. These people should be heard but more so in proportion to their representation in the country, which is about 3%. Mr. Average America is being brainwashed by Israeli-biased opinion and probably doesn’t know it or care.
