“As the World Trade Centre burned and crumpled, five men celebrated
and filmed the worst atrocity ever committed on American soil as it
played out before their eyes…They were Israelis – and at least two
of them were Israeli intelligence agents, working for Mossad.”

While officially they were released because “they did not know
anything about 9/11,” I think that statement is a little hard to
swallow. Are we to believe that they saw the first plane and decided
to film themselves celebrating what most people initially thought was
an accident? And why would one of them tell an Israeli journalist that
“Our purpose was to document the event”? One does does not generally
have a purpose to document a surprise. Indeed, it seems like
rationality has to fall on the side of disbelief in the coincidence
theory. Fortunately, other evidence seems to clarify the situation (a bit):

“One highly placed investigator told Carl Cameron of Fox News that
there were “tie-ins” between the Israelis and September 11; the hint
was clearly that they’d gathered intelligence on the planned attacks
but kept it to themselves.”

And:

“Mossad agents were spying on Mohammed Atta and Marwan al-Shehi, two
of leaders of the 9/11 hijack teams. The pair had settled in
Hollywood, Florida, along with three other hijackers, after leaving
Hamburg – where another Mossad team was operating close by.”

However, contrary to Carl Cameron’s source, as reported in Der
Spiegel, the Israeli spy ring “provided a list [to the CIA] including
the names of at least four out of the 19 hijackers of Sept. 11.”

Whether the CIA was informed or not, we’re to believe that while
Mossad was tailing several of the hijackers prior to 9/11 (living on the same block in a town of 20,000 in the case of Atta), that on 9/11, the Mossad agents caught filming the attacks had just happened upon them? Again, that strains credulity. Rather, the information that is publicly available leads to only three rational conclusions:

1. Israel knew about the attacks, but didn’t tell us everything they knew.
2. Israel told us everything, but even with the location, date and the
names of the hijackers, our intelligence agencies were just too
incompetent to prevent the attacks.
3. Israel told us everything, but elements within the government
purposely allowed the attacks to go forth.

What other interpretation of these facts do you have? Even if you
support the second interpretation, you should be outraged that no one
lost their job over the failure. At the very least, you shouldn’t
ridicule others who want accountability.

Are we using the Rumsfeld standard of “complicity” here? Whatever do you mean? Most Americans in general support the idea of American support for Israel. But American Jews who agree with them are “complicit”?

You refer me toward a couple thousand pages, but don’t even attempt to explain what accusation you’re making or what it is I am supposed to discover in these books you cite.

I am also anti-neocon and anti-neo-liberal and I appreciate some of the things you’ve had to say on this blog, but I’m going to have to insist that you elaborate on your sweeping denunciation of millions of Americans here or take it back.
