Well, the US has occupied Germany, Japan, S. Korea, etc., since WW II. What I wonder about is the "sex, drugs, rock &roll" aspect of military life. What are the Iraqi equivalents to "Blow Job Alley" in Seoul or "Pubic" Bay in the Phillipines? Rumors of "Haji Juice", as well as hash/heroine have shown up already. Anyone know more?

Well, yes, of course, much to do about the "withdrawal" as "advisors" remain in Iraq's cities to "oversee" the handover back to the rightful owners of the country, except the major oil companies are NOT about to let their prize escape them, and that was what the whole invasion was about in the first place. Depose the dictator Saddham Hussein, who had nationnalized the oil way back in time, thereby angering the powerful Western oil people who wanted the world's third largest oil deposits. They were able to use the U.S. military to do the bloody and dirty work of invading. Subjugating and nearly annihilating an entire country is more like the truth!

With most of the troops stationed not that far away, on massive bases just outside the cities, a return to the cities, if insurrection is amplified again, is the plan. The U.S. shadow has only backed up a little bit, thereby appeasing the antiwar movement, and giving them hope that all is well with the Obama promises to eventually leave Iraq. That's a laugh, indeed! America, or whoever is REALLY running the show, does not intend to leave.

Scott Ritter is correct, the plan is to stay in Iraq indefinately and protect the oil interests, AND, keep a strong military presence in the Middle East. Our bases in Saudi Arabia closed several years ago, and Iraq is the designated lair now for U.S. presence, and a location to stage airstrikes from, to protect Israel, in case the need arises.

Lets not forget that we are also right on Iran' s doorstep, to keep them honest, and to help Israel if need be, and oil interests are pointed also in Iran's direction, as peak oil begins to cast its ominous shadow around the globe. It was NO coincidence that GWB, a big oil guy all the way, was president during the time of the invasion of Iraq. Oil was the reason all along. And the protection of Israel.

The destruction and killing by the United States in Iraq far exceeds whatever dark deeds were perpetrated by Saddham Hussein. Might is right, so forget morality, ethics, true Christian views against killing.

Makes ya wonder, who REALLY IS running the U.S., or the world for that matter, when taxpayer money is used to get the job done for the big money conglomerate interests and most war crimes will NEVER be prosecuted. Powerful interests and greed will stoop at nothing, cover up everything, to achieve their goals.

So, yes, the "retreat" outside Iraqi cities is but a feint chess move to deceive whoever is sitting on the other side of the chess table, the majority around the globe who opposed the invasion in the first place.

Trouble is, even antiwar people are driving around with Iraqi oil in their gas tanks. Now, back to the Michael Jackson drama.
