The Westphalian order which promised sovereignty has traditionally been of little use to nations which attract the attention of lawless empires. Lebanon’s recent elections are a good example of this. In an act which can most accurately be described as terrorism the US and Israel used threats, war games and intimidation to achieve ‘their’ desired outcome for Lebanon. Every nation has the sovereign right to self determination; to govern the way it sees fit. If the US and Israel want international law to accommodate for the breaching of sovereignty to remove governments they oppose then let the law apply to them as well. Otherwise shut the hell up and fix your own pile of rubbish before criticising other nations which you have bent over backwards to hinder.
