If Jusin Raymondo plans to try to convince people by his verbal gifts (as well as written), he should count the number of times he sez "you know" per minute and take appropriate remedial steps.

You all must read The Causes of War by Geoffrey Blainey to get a realistic grip on why wars and peacw occur. The short version is that as long as global power is so skewed to the U.S., the U.S. is highly likely to wage war because that is the path of least resistence for the U.S. to impose its will on other countries.

BTW, Blainey argues that the anit-VN war movement prolonged the war. That'll put hair on your chest. Even if you don't believe it, you should consider the logic. The anitwar movement, so Blainey avers, prevented the prez from using the full force of the U.S. earlier. If that had occurred, the U.S. would have learned sooner that the VN war was unwinnable. As this arguement is a counterfactual, one can only speculate about its veracity, but it's worth considering. That is, the only way to wage peace is to have at least one side of a war lose decisevly.

Clear, hold, build…foreign policy is a reflection of domestic policy…genocide. Didn't Hitler, Stalin, and Mao try this, too. Native Americans were subjected to a similar plan. I don't think it worked out too well.

Sounds like a plan: the extermination of all free people.

The welfare-warfare state is our enemy. The Stinky One just happens to be on top right now and giving it to all willing to spread'em..

America has to realize one thing. We live under a one part system. We are on a fast pace to becoming a fascist state. the dems are spineless as ever. just look at their appeasement to the repubs and health care. The dems are just as much bought and paid for as are the repubs. The Neolibs, will probably be worst than the Neocons. Their agenda is the same, bought and paid for by the same paymasters. Dems have to wake up. Stop living in a state of denial. You have been hustled one more time. This endless resource war will last an eternity.

"Energy independence" is a term that you don't want to use too often. "The Power that be" despise such terms. You might find yourself visited by (how the song goes? "Strangers in the night"). It meant less profit for them. They rigged elections(including the presidential) to stop it. They started new economic war(rigging the world food price) to stop it. They trained/hired/extorted journalist and academics to shot down the alternative energy projects. It's all for the profits of the few with power. The little people like us? Who cares!

I fail to see how you can think tone is irrelevant in communiciation, which is the object of an interview, whether it be about war and peace or any other subject. If the object is to attract listeners to the message or information then delivery is very important.
I do not find that his words hurt; they inform, with facts and his opinion. He is a journatlist here and wants people to hear or read what he has to say. otherwise he would just keep a private diary. An egg is an egg but there is a difference between a fried egg and an omelet in the presentation.
Perhaps I should have emailed him directly rather than posting here. I consider this nothing more than friendly criticism. Sorry if you are offended.

Scott, you should DEFINITELY get Glenn Greenwald on asap to answer Justin's quite credible allegations. I don't think that Glenn is puposively avoiding Afganistan, but I would very much like to hear a discussion between you two about the relationship between the anti-war movement and Obama's war machine. VERY GOOD discussion.

My politics are hard-left, btw, but I find antiwar.com to be an essential resource for a credible discussion about foriegn policy. I try as hard as I can to turn my other lefty marxist buddies onto you guys but they just can't get past the libertarian thing. I understand where they are coming from, but in this case, its their loss.

Raimondo's "tone" is utterly irrelevant where war & peace is concerned. It is the content of his words that matters. His words hurt because they're true, not because of a condescending tone.

I find the tone of Justin Raimondo rather grating. He speaks with such a condescending voice as if to say the poor smucks out there who haven't got enough sense to agree with my every word will just have to remain out in the cold.
I do not say this to be mean but think that if he wants to get the attention of the listener he should re-play the interview and lend an objective ear, not to what he is saying but to the manner in which he is saying it.
People do not like to be talked down to.
