When the "Hukster" was running his abortive campaign I received an email from the founder of an organization, who shall… guilty as they are will remain nameless, that I was paying membership dues to. They had the audacity to claim they supported this buffoon even though by reading through his mission statement I realized he essentially stood for everything that was anathema to freedom and contrary to the spirit of this group. Well, needless to say I shot off an angry letter in response with points taken from Hucks web site to show the hypocrisy and complete disconnect with reality. I never did get a reply but I did vote with my wallet and ceased being a member. Seems the only language they understand is the language of money.

“Our only hope is complete, total, and utter financial devastation.” Thanks Scott, what a beautiful grain of truth to toss in at the end. I couldn’t agree more. The time has come, whether by choice or by necessity, for all of us in the spoiled and gluttonous west to refocus our energies on a more efficient and localized style of life that doesn’t insist on superficial distractions via overconsumption. Either we learn or we suffer. In the end, FUBAR or not (which by the way doesn’t seem so bad, considering that the recognizable is based on some very destructive principles), the revolution is a personal and community-based one where in rather than opposing, we simply make the current system irrelevant, or rather of minimized influence on our lives by asserting influence into our local realm. Change the parameters of the discussion and the approach. Peace out people…

Mike Huckabee has proved for all time that there really is such a person as the Ugly American, a shallow, ignorant do-gooder so overloaded with his provincial outlook and biases that he can propose dispossessing an entire people with a big smile on his face. Can there be anything more vacuous than the assertion that an occupied country becomes the property of the invader by default and the conquered inhabitants, insofar as they are not physically eliminated, are counted in the invader's population, but with no advantage of any kind? Well, one day some new version of Mike Huckabee will come along and explain to us why there is no such thing as an American.
