Americans have raised throughtlessness and stupidity to a virtue, and any attempt to encourage serious reading, knowledge, and serious thinking is seen as a threat to "comfort zone" of stupidity encouraged by political flunkies, media airheads, etc. Mr. Hentoff is to be commended for his efforts to restore self respect for our birthrights.

Mr. Hentoff has done much important work. The fact is that too many Americans are opposed to First Amendment Rights and those other rights mentioned in the Bill of Rights. It's so great that a long time lefty like Nat Hentoff is now with Cato. This really is moving the left/right coalition forward. We have to see that people whose main issues are freedom and independence, and people whose main issues are justice and equality should be together against the bankers, MIC, and their politician flunkeys who are against all of us.
