If anyone would like to see if the Chinese government is as oppressive as it has been made out to be do some research on the spiritual movement called Falun Gong. There are so many facets of the systematic attempt to annihilate Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa) that I could not clearly illustrate them in a short message. There is a severe misunderstanding of exactly how oppressive the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is. From the CCP's banning of Falun Gong to Its organ harvesting of live Falun Gong practitioners, there seems to be nothing benign about this government.

Remember, guys, when righty militias are attacking liberals and lefty militias fight back; when the religious rightniks obey Rod Parsley/Pat Robertson/John Haggee and start turning America back into a Xtn country by killing the Muslims, the Pagans, the Catholics, the Buddhists…, and they fight back; when disappointed Rapture fans start punishing Jews for not rebuilding that Temple like they were supposed to, thus holding back Jesus; when Black/Red/Yellow/Brown militias resist those angry White guy militias, trying to bring back the good old Jim Crow days,; and in general when the whole US is a lot like Kansas and Missouri and Arkansas in 1864, but worse; I'll be in Kunming, having eggs sunny side up with my hash browns and garlic, and wondering if black rum would go good with my coffee.

Scott, from one Star Wars fan to another, I loved your "Star Destroyer" reference. It was apt. West End Games did some great stuff between 1987-1998, but one of their big errors was the claim that the Empire possessed 30,000 such ships. They couldn't even name them all!! 300 is more like it. Otherwise, Endor seems like a manageable defeat (hit pause, there are about 40 Destroyers, plus the Executor and the unfinished Death Star 2, against a similar number of varied Rebel ships) and Lucas has said that the war basically ends there.
Sure, it's a whole galaxy, but only a tiny fraction of planets are inhabited.

Scott, next time you need a job, come teach English for six months or a year. XYZ university will pay for your ticket over, if you talk right, and a ticket home is a normal part of the contract. It'd improve your talk show hosting. US media is full of people bloviating ignorantly, whose knowledge comes from visits to restaurants, Charlie Chan movies, Yellow Peril prejudices, Cold War political education. You would have real knowledge, real experience.

The same goes for anyone reading here. If you're a native speaker and have a college degree, that's all you need to teach English. Plus a can-do attitude.

Interesting interview. I hope Walsh went somewhere besides Beijing and Shanghai. Or got away from 5-star hotels and westernized shopping districts in Beijing and Shanghai.

Scott, why not come visit me in Changchun? It's one of those industrial cities that tourists never visit.
