Ray McGovern, member of Veterans For Peace and former senior analyst at the CIA, discusses why Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s military tribunal may hide 9/11 motives; contesting the “they attacked us for our freedom” explanation for 9/11; evidence from Dick Cheney and the 9/11 Commission that unconditional US support for Israel motivates terrorism; the Washington Post’s revisionist interpretation of KSM’s motivation as a response to negative personal experiences in America; and the real reason Congress is dead-set against federal trials for 9/11 plotters: the ensuing national news coverage connecting the dots between US foreign policy, support for Israel and terrorism.

MP3 here. (37:12)

Ray McGovern was a CIA analyst for 27 years, from the John F. Kennedy administration to that of George H. W. Bush. His articles appear on Consortium News and Antiwar.com.

  1. Can any rational, well-informed individual come to any other conclusion that uncritical support for Israel by the U.S.is not the motive for anti-U.S. sentiment in the Muslim world? Ray McGovern knows of what he speaks.

  3. The US Congress, the US President (no matter who), and the US – ALL are "occupied territory controlled by Israel.

  4. The UN Conference Against Racism in Durban South Africa in September 2001.

I believe that the trigger for 9/11 was the above mentioned conference. The united states said we will not even talk with the rest of the world about racism in israel towards the palesinians. A few days later was 9/11.

The Fawning Corporate Media has totally erased this event from our collective conscious as does the 9/11 government report. Neither of them mention that we left that conference just days before the events of September 11, 2001. http://christianactionforisrael.org/un/durban.htm….

  5. Very well said at the end Ray.

By being denied the truth of the situation in palestine regarding israels treatment of the palestinians we Americans are being denied our basic right to be Americans. Americans would seek justice for both sides in such a situation. Only by controlling the news can we be so denied….

  6. Sure glad I found this site. For a while I feared there was a shortage of kookball conspiracy theorists, but now I know better. Yeah, they're rioting in Tunisia and Yemen and Egypt and Syria because of …..Israel?! I don't think so. Try astronomical food prices, totalitarian oppression that makes the IDF seem relatively benign, and the total repression of women. But you folks see a scary Zionist neo con behind every rock, instead of critically thinking and looking at the history. Most of the EU is weak to non-supportive of the 'Zionist Entity', and yet Europe is filled with Muslim rape gangs in Sweden and Denmark, enclaves in London and and Paris where even the cops won't venture. Is that the fault of the Joooooooooooooooooos too? Get real…..

  7. What exactly does rioting in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya have to do with hating America? The 2 things are unrelated.

  8. One and only one nation on this rapidly decomposing planet benefits from conning the USA into going to war for the next 100 plus years against every nation that Israel sees as an enemy. Cui Bono, Who Benefits from 911?

The answer to that question, Mr. McGovern – is the same answer that you and many others are doing your best to avoid giving, which properly identifies who was responsible for 9-11.

  9. America gains nothing and loses much from its foolish connection to Israel.

  10. Niels Harrit, a scientist at Uni of Copenhagen and 8 more scientists have examined the dust from WTC and they conclude that nano-thermite, and not the planes brought down the three towers. Is there any evidence that terrorists were on board the planes ? They could have been flown by remote control. Who knows ? Maybe Mohammed Atta was a Mossad agent who is back in Israel today ?

  11. What do any of these countries have to do with American government and media sending "inconvenient" truth about Israel down the memory hole?

Surely you understand something about trolls. Red herrings in discussion are their stock-in-trade.

  12. The U.S. Government will jump through hoops, will grovel in the dirt, will take any shit, to avoid accusing Israel of anything. Mustn't offend those precious Zionist darlings, now, must we?

Of course, our "51st state" never hesitates to piss on Uncle Chump when the occasion calls for it. Whether it's the "Lavon Affair" in 1954 (!) . . . United States Ship LIBERTY in 1967 . . . theft of nuclear materials . . . endless espionage . . . murder of American citizens (Rachel Corrie, the attack on the Gaza aid flotilla) . . . well, you get the picture. The U.S. Government always rolls over for another kick from the criminal Zionist entity.

(I hope Ray McGovern's feeling okay after The Pantsuited One's strongarm boys roughed him up during her lying speech.)

  13. But Bruce. Without Israel, Jesus will not be able to come floating down from LaLa land and there wouldn't be any Rapture. Shame, Shame, Shame.

  14. Vietnam vet is absolutely right. This is an extremely complex and sensitive matter, but somehow the U.S. must recover its govt. from Israelis and U.S. dual loyalists. And this must be done without a free and independent press to inform the public. And it must be done in an American way, no nazis allowed. No midnight arrests, no secret courts, no special discriminatory laws, no killings or illegal imprisonments. Everything must be done according to American consitutional law and Christian ethics. This may be impossible, but if it is, then American is doomed, and will be completely conquered in a bloodless coup by religious fanatics and zealots like the fundamentalist preacher in Fl. who burned the Koran because of his gross ignorance and hatred.
Never must any country, much less the U.S., walk down the road that the Nazi govt of Germany took. And yet, we must figure out how to regain our country.
    Any suggestions?

  15. MUST be done by Christian ethics. Excuse me while I clean off my computer screen. Whose/which brand of Christian Ethics would those be? We have how many hundreds to choose from? Opps. Silly me, of course it would HAVE to be da William Fuller mandate of ethics. More Organized Religion pompous arrogance. Grow up and Evolve !!!

  16. Just cut off Israel. Why should Americans want 3 billion of their money go to Israel?

  17. Too bad your cognitive infiltration is wasted here. People are onto you guys.
