Charles Goyette, former Antiwar Radio co-contributor and author of The Dollar Meltdown : Surviving the Impending Currency Crisis with Gold, Oil, and Other Unconventional Investments, discusses the grossly inadequate spending cut plans from Democrats and Republicans alike; how the narrow partisan debate on economic issues ignores the fact that both guns and butter are off the table; how the dollar is dying, squeezed from without and within; Congressional Republicans who won’t cut the Pentagon budget for fear of losing defense contracts in their districts; and why the University of Texas endowment fund’s decision to take physical delivery of its gold is a seminal event.

  1. Al Queda and the Muslim Brotherhood have won the wars. They can continue to pester the USA from their remote havens and force America into complete bankruptcy. When George W. came to power the national debt was about 4 trillion dollars. When he left office the debt had risen to about 11 trillion dollars, a deed that the Republicans find hard to attribute to their watch. And if Obama stays in office for 8 years, the debt will be well over 20 trillion. The standard of living in the USA (and many other countries) is founded on money borrowed by their governements that should be paid off in the future. And with great minds like Donald Trump no contemplating a run for President, the USA empire will come tumbling down promptly. His platform of charging countries fees for providing for their defence ignores the fact that most business deals are based upon contracts. When and how were the US troops invited into all the foreign countries for the sake of their protection? Unilaterally imposing rules on other sovereign states is the ultimate sign of empire. i think it will be over sooner than most would expect.
