The Other Scott Horton (no relation), international human rights lawyer, professor and contributing editor at Harper’s magazine, discusses his confidence in his Guantanamo “Suicides” expose in Harpers magazine despite a barrage of criticism; the Department of Justice giving a wink and a nod at the Bush torture program; how John Durham’s investigation of CIA torture was hamstrung by limitations imposed by the Obama administration; the CIA’s heavy redaction (to save face, not protect national security) of Glenn Carle’s book The Interrogator: An Education; and how the DOJ withheld crucial evidence during accused al-Qaeda financier Pacha Wazir’s habeas corpus hearing.

The other Scott Horton is a Contributing Editor for Harper’s magazine where he writes the No Comment blog. He is a co-founder of the American University in Central Asia, and has been involved in some of the most significant foreign investment projects in the Central Eurasian region. 1. I agree with Horton that the Guantanamo "suicides" were probably murders. Not that the U.S. "Justice" Department will do anything about it, mind you. Nor will there be any investigations and/or prosecutions of Bush, Cheney, Bybee, Yoo and the other lowlifes who dishonored their country and the law.

Best regards to Scott Horton (oh, hell, to BOTH of 'em!).

  2. Here is the link to the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) interview on a program called Late Night Live. http://www.abc.net.au/rn/latenightlive/stories/20

  3. I wonder if one could not require a PROOF of any American travelling abroad, that he is NOT connected with the illegal CIA and torture happenings? Including of course your laughable joke for a president. of anything else than obedience and opinion-manufacturing..

You see, such a proof might be easy to get, but a little worrisome to get verified.

And of course ANY American office stating anything wrong, should be completely liable to any cost inflicted on less insane humans than Americans.

Wasn't it JUSTICE, TRUTH and MORALS you were seeking? – But you got sick and seeked Avoidance, Lies and Threats!

But you are still a sick people! Save your money and stay home and vomit on yourselves. This would better the world. And withdraw your absolutely uninvited soldiers from any camp outside USA! Reinvent a true human life and kill your worldwide attempts at moral and truth infection, known as spin and lies to anybody than a Disneyworld American. The Finest species of Humanity in existence? To the great judgement of a chosen president of America!!)

One doubts that any flie could be judged that high. But not that a president of USA could be judged exactly like that. And his successor and his successor… Nothing too low for human imagination. Not when WINNING is the premise of rights and civilisation and culture.

Let me guess: someday humans will say: "You won!" And afterwards add in: Now we will seek human values! A society for grown-ups! For lasting culture! For civilisation! Values sougth by everybody, not just sick sociopaths!
