Gareth Porter

This interview is from the KPFK 90.7 FM Los Angeles broadcast of August 12th.

Gareth Porter, independent historian and journalist for IPS News, discusses the infamous “laptop of death” documents from which the vast majority of “evidence” about Iran’s supposed clandestine nuclear weapons program comes from; the conspicuous mistakes in the documents that lead him to believe a foreign intelligence agency (probably Mossad) fabricated them; how Iran’s refusal to turn over military missile blueprints (which are none of the IAEA’s business) got them labeled “uncooperative” and sanctioned by the UN; and how the MEK launders information, passing off documents sourced from Israel as their own.

  1. MEK is the closest thing that there is to Khmer Rouge west of Cambodia. Just listen to the the stories of those who have managed to escape from their grip in Iraq and read independent reports of Mr. and Mrs. Rajavi's doctrine of brainwashing and cult of personality.

  2. >> The Taliban are much more similar to Khmer Rouge.

Yes both rose to power on the back of US intervention.

BTW. Be Careful around matches. We wouldn’t want you to set yourself on fire, like your colleagues have done.

  3. Where was Scott when Uribe sent his troops across the Ecuadorean border 5 years ago on a mission of incursion to retrieve a laptop that "revealed" key "evidence" that Chavez was funding FARC?

It was important because it showed (a) the "smoking gun forged laptop" technique, and (b) that Interpol "verified" the "authenticity" of the laptop and wanted very much to support Uribe — a man who had Death Squads & mass graves whereas Chavez has none.

I guess LATAM is just a pointless backwater for Antiwar coverage, even though that's where the dress-rehearsals take place, not just for Intel theatrics.

      1. There's even a nice little reference to Porter's report on the MEK's role in the bogus Iranian laptop at the end.

  4. hey antiwar luuv your work, one of my relatives was badly wounded by a MEK motorcycle bomb, then when the iranian government caught the culprits and hung them the world cried out that the iranian government is violating human rights!!!

Anyhoo the MEK are a massive joke in Iran, any iranian who sided with saddam while he was slaughtering us deserves to be hung at a minimum….imagine a group of americans who side with for example the chinese as they are bobming your nation…trust me you guys would hang them just as quick , or shoot them and dump them in the ocean…lol

Now the MEK are stuck in limbo like a wierd murderous cult…they only are around because there is a market for being anti iranian and your tax money is spent to pay the rent and bills of these degenerates in france and england.

There is a great documentary film about them and how they basically change their political skin to recieve funds from whoever is in power at the time…they are traitors and criminals and i will go and piss on their graves at behesht te zahrah ….peace out

  5. You can be sure that Israel–that criminal Zionist entity–is behind the lies and distortions regarding Iran.

    Best regards to Gareth Porter.

  6. it was interesting today, howard dean[married to a zionist] was given air on talk of the nation to tell us how lovely the mek is, has been.

the mek has been a stooge for the usa/brit intell services for decades. their mission has always been to destabilize iran.

and obombya runs them as did most of his predecessors of spookish persuasion.

  7. I'm an Iranian student and I believe we should Delist MEK now because nothing justifies them being on the list, according to the Clinton administration.
The designation was done at the behest of the Iranian regime and as a goodwill gesture to Tehran. SO the fact remains that this listing is Illegal.. So USA should do as Europe and delist them now.

Only the Iranian regime and its lobbies oppose delisting. They need the designation to justify execution of MEK supporters in Iran. They need it to justify attacking 3,400 unarmed and civilian members of the MEK living in Camp Ashraf in Iraq.

These lies will not last in the future….Long live freedom and democracy!
