Chris Floyd

Chris Floyd, author of Empire Burlesque – High Crimes and Low Comedy in the Bush Imperium, discusses his article “What Lies Beneath: The Essence of Modern America in Somalia’s Blood-drenched Soil;” the US “dual track policy” of simultaneously funding the weak central government and the warlords – guaranteeing some influence no matter who carries the day; how imperial hubris has convinced American politicians they have the right to decide who is and isn’t suitable to rule Somalia; and a reminder that American lives are no more important than Somali lives (which should give us pause, as over 100,000 have been needlessly killed).

  1. Great to hear Chris again. As always he strikes to the heart of the human issues that we so easily lose sight of in the never-ending 'news cycles' and the normalizing spin by the politicians and the pundits. Thanks!!!

  2. Temporary emotions — Permanent thoughts

If temporary emotional pleasure is your goal in life, then the greater your control over people the greater will be your pleasure.

Whereas, if permanent mental happiness is your goal, then the less control you have over people the greater will you achieve happiness. For to pursue happiness as you perceive it to be, this is what a freewill is all about.

  3. I just like the valuable information you provide to your articles. I?ll bookmark your weblog and take a look at once more right here regularly. I’m slightly sure I will learn lots of new stuff right right here! Best of luck for the following!
