John Glaser, Assistant Editor at Antiwar.com, discusses Obama’s “mission accomplished” speech heralding the Iraq War’s “successful” end; a closer look at what nine years of US war and occupation has wrought (a million dead and a budding Maliki dictatorship); how an Iraqi strongman makes US imperial strategy easier; the brewing troubles in Pakistan; and why the Afghan National Police (ANP) is being expanded, despite a clear record of brutality and lawlessness.

John Glaser is Assistant Editor at Antiwar.com. He is a former intern at The American Conservative magazine and CATO Institute.

Shortly after US troops entered Baghdad, I heard an oil expert on NPR, saying the war had been for oil, and that after many years of civil war, we would wind up with "another Saddam, but this one will be our Saddam." He said that was always the plan, and apparently he was right.

@David4Peace
Wasn’t the original Saddam also theirs?
Oil is/was a red-herring, a decoy to make you not think about the bigger thefts and the economic situation of anglo-ams.

The only thing the US has achieved in almost 9 year's of war is a face saving retreat that they could spin that they didn't leave that country with there tails between there legs but with there heads held up high.

In Iraq the US Army kidnapped small boys and their mothers, raped the boys and forced their mothers to watch, all of it filmed by a female soldier ! I don´t believe the SS and Gestapo could have done that.
In Fallujah they used DU-weapons as revenge for the killing of 3 Blackwater mercenaries. Today doctors and scientists say that FALLUJAH IS WORSE THAN HIROSHIMA !!! There´s a reason they call United Bluff The Great Satan.

I thought Iraq parliament didn't meet or when it did, it was only a small fraction of alleged members, the rest living in luxury outside of the country. Is that accurate or not?

KNOWLEDGE GIVES YOU INNER GOODNESS
But, Malachi does not overate in a vacuum, like the filament of a light bulb radiating his brilliance for all to wonder and bow down in worship. For since the beginning of civilization the upper half of Iraq society has always had a dictator mentality and America has no business having any association with them unless our intent is to participate in their corruption.
And such is the relationship with all our client states, our greedy upper half striving to empower their greedy upper half in a most mutually beneficial way.
But then, how ridiculous, for we all know that the morality of society has nothing to do with good government. For knowledge is goodness, your lack of knowledge makes you evil and just as soon as we end all ignorance we shall end all evil.

Truth — Destroys before it heals
Confidence in the systemic corruption of high finance, this can never be restored. As it can only get worse until we have a complete public exposure of all the lies, fraud, misinformation and complicity.
The truth has a unique sting, and an equally unique ability to heal the destruction wrought by dishonesty, fraud and lies. The truth hurts, because the daylight of truth demands changes that the self-serving and those in denial desperately wish to avoid.
But there can be no healing or reconciliation without the truth, baldly stated and plainly spoken without artifice or spin.
If we can finally be truthful with ourselves as a nation, then we must admit that our financial system is fundamentally based on lies, fraud, embezzlement, misinformation, perverse filters and incentives, shadow systems that mock transparency and regulation, class privilege and the systemic flouting of the rule of law.
For capitalism is a Ponzi scheme, which is based on the illusion that the sole purpose of life is to maximize pleasure, which gives everyone no choice but to enrich themselves upon the misery of anyone in a lower class.

“Take care of the widows and orphans in their distress.”
Imagine, 1.5 million war widows has now Iraq, all thanks to our 51% most educated, aggressive and wealthy, our imperial plunder loving voting majority. So,
NEW LAW
All the war widows in Iraq shall receive a quality pension for life, paid for by a tax imposed upon the 51% most wealthy men in America. Pension shall include,
(1) New home
(2) Late model car maintained in good condition.
(3) Quality paid vacation four times a year.
(4) Unlimited free education for them and all decedents.
(5) Healthcare equal to the richest of the rich.
(6) Quality lifestyle equal to the average enjoyed by our 51% most wealthy.

GOAL — GET RON PAUL ELECTED
As a majority love Ron’s foreign policy, namely the 51% most wealthy, but come down hard on his domestic policy, he should run on the following platform,
CAMPAIGN PERFECTION
(1) Pick a Vise President running mate who has a domestic policy tailor made to fit the hearts desires of the maximum number of voters.
(2) Promise that all domestic policies would be ruled by his Vice President with absolutely no supervision by him.
(3) Promise that nationwide polls shall be used as the final word on all issues pertaining to taxes and government budget.
(4) Promise to close down all 800 foreign military bases, bring all troops home and put them to work rebuilding infrastructure, and that the Constitution will be obeyed where it reads, “There shall be no standing army in time of peace.
(5) Promise that if Israel attacks Iran, that you will give Iran a thousand nuke warheads mounted on intercontinental ballistic missiles programmed to target every military base in Israel.

Empire USA had no choice, you see, for 60 percent of the oil consumed in America goes into a black hole called the military. And the only way that USA could forever keep all of the billions and billions of barrows of Iraq oil was to so destroy Iraq infrastructure and economy — that it would always be destitute and too weak to fight back.

Rick. The story of the rape of Iraqi boys came from Sy Hersh but it was also mentioned in The Guardian. They filmed the event, a female soldier did that ! It´s beyond evil. I haven´t got the words. Does anyone ?

FIVE YEARS OR LESS — ALL FOR NOTHING
It may take five years, most likely less, and then Iraq will nationalize all their old fields again, then we will have another lost war where nothing was gained again, Empire building stuck in reverse Amen.
