Eric Margolis

Eric Margolis, internationally syndicated columnist and author of War at the Top of the World and American Raj, discusses the many countries covertly and overtly supporting Syria’s armed resistance; the Western media’s one-sided anti-Assad coverage; how the US is hijacking the Arab Spring, toppling unfriendly dictators (while protecting compliant ones) and subverting genuine grassroots democratic revolutions; the near-total elimination of al-Qaeda, so that it exists mostly as a catchall name for anti-American groups; and the danger of Russian intervention in Syria.

  1. If Hezballah and Hamas have now recognised this as a popular uprising, then this is obviously what they consider it to have become, regardless of the fact that the fire was set and then ignited by the Israeli US led axis of weasels. We are therefore now watching a gaggle of weasels riding a tiger. Given the track records, my money's on the tiger.

  2. There can be no secular solution to a criminal government,
until there is a moral solution to an immoral society

For in Syria we see the upper half of society hoarding all the land and wealth, and in their greed such an immoral upper class is fighting over how best to enrich themselves upon the misery of the impoverished lower half.

For to be moral, one must be a pacifist who never uses force to overcome crime, a most civilized thing to do, but a thing impossible for government to do so long as there is crime to be overcome. That is why government morality will always lag behind society, as we strive to resist the temptation to be enriched upon the misery of a more weaker brother.

  3. Got news for you, there won’t be any war in The Hart Of Levant!
US has already pulled his dick out of that sandbox. Yes they’ll try to throw some some stone here and there but the original US plan is now shelved!
And don’t you worry about Hamas and Hizbolla they are well connected.
The world is just giving USrael a chance to fall Gracefully. And if she don’t do it gracefully it will be done forcefully.
These are the spasm of a dying Empire.
Make a cup of tea sit down, relax and watch it fall.

  4. Scott still doesn't seem to have figured out that al-qaeda has always been an arm of US imperial policy. The US consistently supports islamic fundamentalists against secular, left, and nationalist forces. And yes, this was true on 9/11 also.
