John Glaser, Assistant Editor at Antiwar.com, discusses Senator Lindsey Graham’s hissy fit about Hamid Karzai’s insistence that the US military stop night raids and hand over control of prisoners to the Afghans; the largely illiterate and drug-addicted Afghan police and army that will supposedly take over security of the country; Afghanistan’s paltry GDP, made up almost entirely of poppy cultivation and foreign aid, that can’t possibly support a strong central government; and Obama’s apparent deal with Benjamin Netanyahu – wherein the US escalates a “covert sabotage and non-proliferation campaign” against Iran, in exchange for toning-down talk of war.

MP3 here. (20:10)

John Glaser is Assistant Editor at Antiwar.com. He is a former intern at The American Conservative magazine and CATO Institute.

  1. The U.S. Government's war in Afghanistan is a criminal misadventure. (But then, so is everything the U.S. Government does these days.) We should just up and get the hell out of Afghanistan.

Senator Lindsay Graham is a loathsome, warmongering swine. He ought to be shipped to Afghanistan–and it would serve him right if he got his
f–kin' legs blown off. (Hey, Graham, a question for you and your fellow warmongers: Why do you suppose it is that Doctor Ron Paul gets more contributions from military people than his chickenhawk opponents?!)

O-Bomb-a, the Peace Laureate-in-Chief, is playing footsie with NuttyYahoo regarding covert crap against Iran. . . .

    Best regards to John Glaser.

  2. Lindsay thought, as well, after the "infamous" long, hot summertime national debt fiasco, that cutting the military budget would be of great concern to North Carolinians, and that is because his constiuency is heavily made up of military personnel that work on the many military bases and military projects within the state of North Carolina. It is sad to think that there are less than a handful of US senators that think in terms of the public common good; they think in terms of "what's in it for me."

  3. Root cause of all our problems — Confining morality to the realm of religion

Wars are fought for property, mainly over real property as in real estate, and guns start to blaze when two nations claim ownership of the same property.

And at one end of the spectrum we have the secular position that ownership is happiness and this gives us the right to take all we can take. While at the extreme other end we have the religious position that we own nothing as we deserve nothing and therefore we should give all we can give.

So, down with secular stupidity, and down with a religious fake morality. For everything we own belongs to those who have less then us, and happiness is a giving action that produces a grateful response.

  5. Lindsay Graham is from South Carolina, not North Carolina. Other than that the comments are accurate.

  6. Great job Zooey. The long lapses in Scott's interviews need to be filled, and you do a wonderful job of it.

Innocent Americans The voting majority who rule America, the 51% most educated and wealthy who in their greed plunder the world in the name of America, the war-hawk voters who generated the vengeance that caused 9/11.

  9. Root cause of 16 civilian slaughter — Western morality

“It shows what kind of savages we are dealing with
over there…. these little illiterate and bearded Afghan…”

    LIGHT
The European race is the most educated, the most clean shaven and the most non-savage (non-dark skinned) humans on earth. So, according to their morality, sub-humans are the indigenous Afghan natives, while they are the most pure white and blessed by God race on earth. Race hatred pure and simple, and this is why no European with a killing machine should be allowed to set foot on Afghan soil.

  10. Education = Wisdom and righteousness

“All you West haters… I on the other hand am going
to wait to see what the actual investigation brings up…
    Can you individuals grow up…
Don’t act like farmers with torches and pitch forks.
If any of you are educated you will understand what I mean.”

    LIGHT
Farmers are uneducated, therefore they are violent and evil. Whereas, with education comes peace, wisdom and goodness. In other words, forget about how intelligent and educated people have enriched themselves upon your misery in the past, reflect only on what people may say in the future.

Comes now light to force such darkness to give way, for to trust the word of a known liar is to be locked in darkness forever.

  11. Kelley, did you expect this latest massacre av civilians in Afghanistan (new My-Lai ) in the ObombAll strategy to Pull Out (see George Carlin and war-like people)?
    Still All Is Bless,
