James Bamford

James Bamford, author of The Shadow Factory: The Ultra-Secret NSA from 9/11 to the Eavesdropping on America, discusses his article “The NSA Is Building the Country’s Biggest Spy Center (Watch What You Say)” and his follow-up response to NSA chief Gen. Keith Alexander’s testimony to Congress; details on the immense new Utah data center; the NSA’s many telecom switch eavesdropping posts, extending far beyond the AT&T San Francisco facility revealed in 2006; whistleblower William Binney’s warning that the US is nearly “a turnkey totalitarian state;” and the NSA’s enhanced encryption-cracking abilities.

  1. Artificial Intelligence — Ultimate conclusion of Empire USA

The dominant paradigm of America since World War Two, this is to do only what is “in the best interest” of profit, the economy and our investments in a war driven economy.

So, why not build a computer called Mr. President, one that is human-free, error-free and that never allows the right or wrong of a thing to enter into the decision making process?

    1. I was using Firefox here. Two other interviews completed successfully. I went to Google Chrome and this interview now is more than halfway through. Don't know what happened.

  2. First the Balford declaration and now Bamford. Bad news never stops. Good interview though.

  3. James noted the NSA missed people like the underwear bomber? Really? Who facilitated his actions and helped him get on the plane? How many false flag operations might be under way?

    1. Very true, and just imagine what it must have been like sitting there with all that smoke coming out of your underwear. Surely, suckered into becoming a fake martyr should be his lawyers defense.

  4. Very interesting interview… the guy seems to have a lot of knowledge, and thanks, Scott, for letting him share it.

Obviously, no one does cost-benefit analyses on these kinds of NSA programs, do they…?
