At least 60 Iraqis
were reported killed or found dead today and another 37 Iraqis were injured
in lighter than normal violence. The worst attack killed 10 and wounded over two
dozen more at a marketplace in northern Iraq. During combat in the Diyala Province
yesterday, three
soldiers were wounded and nine
more were injured. Also, a Marine
was reported killed yesterday in Anbar Province during combat operations.
In
Baghdad, gunmen killed
the head of the Adhamiya municipality, Mudhafer al-Ubaidi, and his guard;
Ubaidi’s son
was also wounded in the attack. Two
people were killed and four wounded when a car bomb exploded at a checkpoint
in the Yarmouk district. In the Saydiya neighborhood, a roadside bomb killed
two people. Iraqi troops raided an eastern Baghdad housing complex occupied
by Palestinian refugees; three
gunmen were killed and 25 were arrested including some Palestinians. Also,

bodies were discovered scattered around in several neighborhoods.
A bomb killed
eight and wounded 25 in a Tuz Khormato marketplace.
In Mosul, mortars
killed a man and his child and wounded four others in a residential district.
Gunmen killed
three policemen. Also, two
bodies were found on the western edge of town.
Four
disembodied heads were found in Baquba.
Three
off-duty policemen were gunned down near Hilla.
In Kirkuk, gunmen killed
a storeowner then kidnapped his brother. A roadside bomb targeting the Police
Chief injured
two bodyguards instead. South of the city, a roadside bomb killed
a motorist.
In Fallujah, fierce clashes
broke out between gunmen and gunmen and Iraqi soldiers. U.S. troops killed
two janitors as they were shooting from their base towards a mosque. Two
bodies bearing gunshot and torture marks were found near Falluja.
Two
policemen were killed during a drive-by shooting in Diwaniya last night.
A Sunni mosque was badly damaged in a bomb attack in Iskandariya; no
casualties were reported.
Gunmen
killed military intelligence officer and kidnapped two more in Amara.
Two
Accordance Party members escaped
injury during a roadside bomb blast that targeted their convoy in Mamun.
Three
civilians were gunned down in two separate attacks in the Diyala province.
In Tikrit, three
people were killed when a roadside bomb was detonated. A separate bomb north
of the city took
one life.
