violence, at least 51 Iraqis were killed or found dead and 27 more were wounded
in the latest attacks. A U.S.
soldier was killed when an Iraqi helicopter crashed in a dust storm.
One
U.S. soldier and seven Iraqi soldiers were killed when an Iraqi transport
helicopter crashed during a dust storm near Shurqat.
A mass grave
containing 15
bodies was discovered in Muqdadiya.
In Baghdad, five
U.S. soldiers were wounded during an IED attack in a southern neighborhood.
A roadside bomb in Wathiq square produced no immediate casualties, but
two policemen and a
civilian were wounded during a second bomb blast. Also, two
dumped bodies were recovered.
Near Samarra in Huwaish, a car
bomb killed four children and
two women while injuring
another 10 people.
Five
people were wounded during a roadside bombing in Mosul; three policemen
were among the injured. Two
bodies were found. Police killed
a suicide bomber before he could stage an attack. Also, a policeman
was gunned down near his home.
Four
bodies were found in a mass grave near Samarra. Eight suspects were
detained
during a raid.
Two
Awakening Council (Sahwa) members were killed and three more were injured
near Tikrit, in al-Dour, during an armed attack.
In Yathrib,
three
Sahwa members were injured during an attack on their checkpoint.
A
body was found in
Buhriz, several hours after the victim was kidnapped.
U.S. forces
killed
three suspects in central Iraq yesterday. One
Iraqi civilian was wounded during the operation.
Near Kut, 29
suspects were detained
during security operations.
Four suspects were captured
in Baghdad.
In Karbala, five thieves were arrested
for impersonating police in order to gain entry to homes.
Two
men were arrested in Basra for crimes committed on the Basra-Baghdad
highway.
An al-Qaeda suspect was captured
in the Tharthar region.
A civilian was kidnapped
in Baquba.
In Imam Wais, a roadside bomb killed
an Iraqi soldier and injured two more.
In al-Hassan, gunmen
killed two people
related to a Sahwa leader.
Two
Sahwa members were killed near Tikrit.
A body
was found in a canal near Latifiya.
In Khalis, a decapitated
body was found.
