A series of small bombings
left casualties across Baghdad
today, while a mass grave was found just south of the capital. At least 22
Iraqis were killed or found dead and 39 more were wounded in violence across
the country. No Coalition deaths were reported, but U.S. troops killed
four men who may have been foreign fighters.
In Baghdad, a roadside
bomb targeting a police commando patrol, but blasting a bus station as well, killed
four people and wounded 18 more on Nidhal Street. Two
people were killed and seven more were wounded when a suicide
bomber attacked a police patrol in Mansour's Nisoor Square. Elsewhere
in Mansour, a bomb planted under a car injured
a ministry of defense employee and two others. Police commandos killed
one man and confiscated weaponry in a northwest neighborhood. No
causalities were reported during a blast in Ur. Nineteen suspects were
detained.
Also, four bodies
were found.
A number of weapons have been found
during sweeps of Sadr City.
At least eight
bodies were found in a mass grave in Wihda. Some remains were discovered
in a sack. The victims were wearing military uniforms.
Near Mosul,
four men were killed in
a U.S. airstrike. Two safe houses that contained graffiti indicating use by foreign
fighters were also destroyed, but the nationality of the men was not released.
Five suspects were arrested
in a different operation. Also, gunmen attacked a motorcade carrying the governor
of Ninewah province, but no
casualties were reported. Another bombing left three
people wounded in the Baaj district.
A
child was killed and three people were wounded in Kanaan when an IED
was detonated near a television station.
In Muqdadiya, an IED wounded
five Iraqi servicemembers.
A child's body was found in Qadir Karam.
A man was killed and another
arrested after they were observed plating a bomb in al-Liheb.
In
Mosul, a man was
killed a Baaj area checkpoint. He acted suspicously and was wearing
a suicide vest.
An explosion near a children's hospital in Kirkuk
left no
casualties, but four suspects were arrested.
Several IEDs were defused
and weapons were confiscated in Balad Ruz.
A suspect was arrested
and weapons were confiscated
in Hartha.
A curfew was imposed
on Hit for "security reasons."
Seven were detained
in Aziziya.
In Diyala, 44 detainees were released
after they were cleared of any wrongdoing.
The power station in Baiji
was attacked
and went offline for a day.
A Turkish soldier was wounded
during clashes with Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK) rebels near the Iraq border.
