The U.S. government spends more than 20 billion dollars a year on Foreign Aid - actually aid to foreign governments. This is in addition to expenditures for foreign military bases, and special deals such as the Mexico Peso bail-out.
The purpose of Foreign Aid is to promote economic development in underdeveloped countries. A more common result is to fill the Swiss bank accounts of Third World politicians and bureaucrats.

Foreign Aid provides subsidies to foreign governments to promote economic development. Government managed economy is socialism. Foreign Aid therefore promotes socialism, even though we know that capitalism is much more effective at promoting economic development.
While the government promotes socialism with Foreign Aid, it erects trade barriers which hamper the development of capitalism by restricting access to the American market.
Ending Foreign Aid would save American taxpayers 21 billion dollars a year.
Ending Foreign Aid would also end U.S. government promotion of socialism in Asia, Africa and Latin America, in countries which have already suffered from too much government.
Capitalism and free trade are the true road to economic development.
