The latest manifestation of The New World Order involves American soldiers under United Nations Command enforcing a Peace Agreement in Bosnia. President Clinton made the decision to send American troops to Bosnia, and in this decision he has the support of Senator Robert Dole, and of Senator John McCain, Chair of the Dole for President Campaign.
Many Americans support intervention in Bosnia because of outrage at the atrocities carried out by the Serbian Socialists. And they are outrageous! The bitter fruit of Yugoslav Socialism, so long admired by the academic Left in America, and, for strategic reasons, by the State Department.
If the mere presence of an international force brings an end to the fighting and an end to the atrocities, it would be hard to argue with success.
But the international force cannot stay there forever. Will the Peace Agreement survive the withdrawal of foreign troops?
Cato Institute analyst Ted Carpenter points out that the Bosnia peace plan maintains the fiction of a unified Bosnian state while accepting a de facto partition. Mr Carpenter predicts renewed fighting when the Bosnian Serb "entity" attempts to unite with Serbia.
