Congressman Calvert has proposed the creation of a National Computer Data Base which would list every person who has a legal right to be in the United States. Calvert's proposal would require employers to verify the legal status of potential employees by checking the Database.
Calvert claims a concern about illegal immigration. But the effect of his National Data Base proposal would be to destroy the privacy of every American citizen.
