Well, Antiwar.com is making budget cuts and so my gig doing Antiwar Radio and assorted assistant editor type jobs around the site is over.

My thanks to Eric Garris and the rest of the crew for having me these past 7 years. Doesn’t look like we’ve stopped any wars, but at least we told people the truth about them.

Also thanks very much to all the readers, listeners and volunteers who’ve helped me all this time.

I’ll be trying to keep the show going on the Liberty Radio Network and my own websites, but I’m going to need your help.

So, announcing the new Save the Scott Horton Show Donation/Sponsorship drive:

Have a company? Sponsor the show or advertise on the site.

You can PayPal scott@scotthorton.org, or stop by my blog Stress or email me scott@scotthorton.org for more information. I can also accept snail mail checks at 612 W. 34th St Austin, TX 78705.

I’m also open to suggestions.

And sign up for the show archive podcasts, interviews and the rest too at ScottHortonShow.com. My blog Stress, Facebook page, Twitter.

Thanks yall, very much.

  1. Scott – thanks for all the great interviews you have done over the past 8 years. It was always fun to be on the air with you. And you were consistently far better informed than other radio hosts.

I wish you all the best with your new gig!

  2. Goodluck Scott! You've educated me. Thank you!

    My mostly horrible suggestions:
Google adsense! Put the interviews on youtube without any trace of copyrighted music. Also make a scott horton show facebook page if you haven't already. Swap links with people/organizations. Then maybe eventually setup a forum. But most important of all, please give us a little synopsis of what each interview is about.

    1. Google adsense is an excellent suggestion. I believe Scott should take this suggestion… Uploading to Youtube would give him Adsense income to support his work, as well as expand readership to millions of other people…

  3. Sorry to hear this, Scott. You have one of the very few radio shows I consider worth listening to. The rest of them are what I call neocon talk radio, that is to say an open sewer of lies and disinformation.

Good luck to you, your talent and devotion to the truth will see you through.

  4. Terrible… I have to say, this makes the website a lot less effective. The fact that it will still be my favorite website says a lot, but I'm devastated by this. Good luck Scott! I will be listening wherever you end up.

  5. Such sad news! I have learned more from your interviews (and rants!) than could ever have been taught in history classes. I’m glad you’re going to continue on your own and my family will absolutely be donating to your efforts. What you all do is vital – there can never be enough skepticism of power and those who wield it.

  6. This is an amazing document. Hopefully I can master more from your useful practical knowledge. I’m not going to say what everyone else has already said, but I do want to share thoughts on your understanding of the subject.

  7. >I'm completely stunned. Scott, your radio interviews were the MAIN REASON I followed Antiwar.com!!!

    Ditto!

  8. Glad to see the podcast is online under the old AWR feed. I was starting to lose my sanity wondering if I could get the podcast.

The interviews are a fantastic source of knowledge for a realistic point of view on what the dynamics are in the area of the world where the US does most of its meddling.

Hopefully this will work out for everyone involved.

  9. scott- you deserve a bigger pond. -you are too big a fish for this one. I will follow your blog for sure.

  10. God bless you, Scott! Find a bigger pond as a previous poster commenter. You are a great interviewer, incredibly informed on all things US Empire and imperial wars, and the only libertarian I can bear listening to (as long as you aren't talking about US-style domestic libertarianism– then I stop listening).

  11. Scott, as a long-time AW.com supporter and monthly donor, this is deeply disappointing news (though I do understand the unfortunate budgetary difficulties). I've had your podcast in my rotation since you joined AW.com. Your skills as an interviewer and your persistent self-education on the subject of world affairs have contributed mightily to my own understanding over the years, and there are scores of others who can say the same. I'm sure you'll succeed with your next step, just as you have here, but your presence on AW.com will be sorely missed.

All the best and keep fighting the good fight.

  12. Will miss you immensely. Your skills as an interviewer are top notch, you are able to find the balance between listening and providing informed comment that so many people lack. One of the main reasons I came to and donated to Antiwar. Best of luck in your new gig I will follow you there and provide assistance when I can.

  13. Your interviews are always top notch — the highest quality interviews on the net or broadcast. Hope you find a way to continue to exercise and develop your interviewing skills so we all can benefit from the wisdom of the exceptional folks you always come up with.

  14. Scott I just don’t know what to say. You are probably the most informed, well-read and intelligent voice about what’s really going on in the world. Your complete and encyclopedic grasp of U.S. Foreign Affairs and its history shed so much light in your interviews, from stalwarts like Gareth Porter to Pepe Escobar, Robert Parry, Ray McGovern, Phil Geraldi, Steve Zunes, the ‘Other’ Scott Horton and so many more. Your knowledge and insight into current global conflicts cannot be duplicated anywhere by anyone because you ‘talk the talk’ with all your guests, not superficially but with depth and detail not found in ANY broadcast, on line and certainly not by anybody in the stenographer corporate press. We certainly hope you continue with shows on Pacifica to bring us real news about the inner workings of U.S. foreign affairs and your unique knack for putting these stories in historical context. The Brick TeeVee Crew always tuned into (and posted) many of your interviews at this site as a highlight to our week, to get underneath the “Washington Consensus” of lies, misdirections and sound bites. On behalf of the BTV Crew I wish you further successes and hopefully more great interviews to come in whatever format you find to let a little more of The Truth out to the Public-at-Large. As Jefferson said, “Enlighten the people, generally, and tyranny and oppressions of body and mind will vanish like spirits at the dawn of day.”
Thanks for all you do, Scott, and we’ll catch up with you down the ‘tubes’ of the internet – hopefully before they firewall it all off. Occupy thestressblog.com!

  15. Terrible decision from the powers that be. Best of luck to you, Scott. You're show was the best part of this organization. I'm afraid a lot of traffic and donor money will begin to disappear.

  16. I.., What…?, you,…Hey! You are the focus of my friday night listening on local outlet KPFK. Your interviews are the best0- you just have theright mindset AND a radio voice presense that makes one want to listen. I've praised your show to KPFK programming. Other interviewers may be good, but not as engaging. — your voice, timing, personality and knowledge make your show a hopping, interesting, looked-forward to event. I am sending $25 dollars, guys— get on board! I would also subscrtibe.if i knew you were going to continue to be the interviewer.ICould you market your show to RT? Maybe just a 5 minute spot to start– look at the Keiser Report- it's along the same lines.of style and nitty gritty knowledge. And, I'm not a libertarian, I'm an anarchosyndicalist.. with socialist leanings — Your shows have been always enjoyable and stimulating… i've learned so much. The country needs your voice..

  17. This is tragic. Scott approached things with a sense of humility, but the humility was backed up by sound research and reasoning. And a wry sense of humor. Nobody quite like him and few with such integrity that I felt I could completely trust that he would always be true to his conscience in all things. I will wait and watch for his return.

  18. Scott, I came to AWR podcast because of a post on Lew Rockwell's site less than a year ago and ever since I've been listening. Thanks for showing me the true nature of our Empire.

  19. Scott,

As many have already commented, you were the main reason I followed Antiwar.com. Letting you go was a horrible mistake. I doubt I will be following the website as much any more, and certainly whoever made this tragic decision should be aware that any donations I might have made to the website will now go towards supporting your show instead.

You are a great interviewer, certainly the most well-read and knowledgable radio host out there. I've no doubt you will land on your feet–and hit it big someday.

    Thanks for everything.
Best of luck to you in all your future endeavors.

  20. Aw, this was an extremely good post. I have Spend some time and actual effort to make a great article is appearing in the article… but what can I say… I put things off a whole lot and never seem to get nearly anything done

  21. Loved your interview this morning on Americas Legacy in Iraq. Excellent. The war propaganda machine of the US government has been stripped. Keep up the good work. Such a fan.

  22. Scott – thanks for all the great interviews you have done over the past 8 years. It was always fun to be on the air with you. And you were consistently far better informed than other radio hosts.
