In October, the US launched an airstrike in Afghanistan that killed three children – ages 8, 10, and 12 -while they were gathering firewood (or by some accounts, dung to burn as fuel). NATO issued its usual dismissive statement, admitting it may have “accidentally killed three innocent Afghan civilians.”
But now, according to the Military Times, the US military includes children on their list of who they’re allowed to murder with impunity.
…a Marine official here raised questions about whether the children were “innocent.” Before calling for the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System mission in mid-October, Marines observed the children digging a hole in a dirt road in Nawa district, the official said, and the Taliban may have recruited the children to carry out the mission.
So digging holes in Afghanistan is now grounds for getting bombed? The children’s relatives and local tribal elders had confirmed at the time that they were not Taliban recruits and were not planting any roadside bombs.
That’s apparently not enough for the US military to simply admit that killing innocent children is wrong. Instead, they invent Orwellian rationales for why these poor children were worthy enemy combatants.
“It kind of opens our aperture,” said Army Lt. Col. Marion “Ced” Carrington, whose unit, 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, was assisting the Afghan police. “In addition to looking for military-age males, it’s looking for children with potential hostile intent.”
There you have it. The US military is now looking for “military-age males” and “children” to kill in Afghanistan.
The real problem is the low level of discipline among US soldiers and the fact that the US officers are just as bad. They overlook the war crimes being committed by NC soldiers all the time no matter what war they are involved in. Just look at the REAL history of the US army and marines.
During the Second World War thousands upon thousands of rapes were committed by US soldiers in Europe. The French Moroccan troops raped thousands of women in Italy during that war. Of course, English, French, and Russian troops were involved as well, with the Russian troops being the worst barbarians.
So next time ask your grandfather or great grandfather “What did he really do during that war.”
You might be surprised at his answer, if he is honest.
This is disgusting and makes me so angry how can they kill innocent children like that. I have been reading a lot about the US soldiers/Nato killing innocent civilians including children. It's just pure evil I know that war is a crazy time but why kill innocent children? i read that US soldiers would invade villages family homes and kill every women, men, parents and children in brutal ways some even do it for a sport for fun hunting down little kids as a game, all the civilians that were killed were unarmed. Luckily, the slaughter of women and children in modern times of war is greatly curtailed, maybe we have evolved a little ??? Back during WW1 and WW2 especially the Germans and Japanese were particultarly savage against civilians, to this day the Japanese violation of the people of China is still a sore point among many and full reparations have not been adequately paid or the guilty parties punished for their involvement.

Well, I don’t find anything surprising in the statement. Given the record of the US and its foreign policies, it does not shock me that the military justified killing of Afghan children. It is not just about the children in Afghanistan only, but about many other innocents who are being killed in Iraq, Pakistan and elsewhere in the name of countering terrorism. After every drone attack US always has just one thing to say- militants died in drone attack, beside few civilians. Joseph you are right that no religion teaches animosity but universal brotherhood and peace. It is high time that nations stop waging wars and work towards for universal peace and prosperity.

The US Army is the biggest terrorist in the world, and the soldiers are puppets of the banks, of the oil companies, who kills inocents people women and childrens, who just wont to live in peace in their homes, just for the economics interest of a few sick and greedy people. Although, its easy to see both side of the story here, I think many people would have a different story to sing if we didnt have our military to protect and serve. We would be talking about accidental killings of children in another country. Instead it we would be talking about your 6 year old brother or sister in your own country. Read between the lines here. As in life accidents happen in war but that doesnt mean that its ok to kill kids unless they are a direct threat. Ive seen video training clips of the people that protect against accidents in combat (military and police). They are given 3 situations and told what that will happen (one person is unarmed and angry, one has a gun and will kill them and one appears to grab a knife but is really unarmed) but dont tell them which person will have the gun etc. In every case the untrained person either would have died or ended up killing 1 or more of the wrong people. Its a true eye opener
