Tillerson Ready for North Korea Talks… But Is Trump?

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson told an audience at the Atlantic Council this week that the US is ready for direct talks with North Korea without preconditions. This seems to be a major shift for the Trump Administration, however the US president’s spokesperson insisted US policy has not changed. What’s going on here? We have a few theories. 1. Ron, it’s not realistic to talk “sincerity” re Trump and “canceling the sanctions.” Don’t expect sincerity, common sense, or brain work here. Trump is using Tillerson (and contradicting him) because he doesn’t know what to do, doesn’t know how to move on and continue “lookin’ tough” until Kim comes forward to say “I give, we give up defending ourselves, and, sure, keep on with your war games twice a year, that’s okay.” If not this, then the next Sec of State can continue to deal with it. This is Trump’s brilliant analysis of what to do.
