Democrats Pushing ‘Kill Back Better’ for Ukraine

They can’t get Build Back Better for America passed but House and Senate Dems are greenlighting Kill Back Better of a cool half a billion in weaponry for Ukraine to stop an imagined Russian invasion. OK, maybe Russia will invade, but certainly won’t if America will simply negotiate Russia’s valid security concerns of endless encroachment by NATO up to the Russian border, including the placement of offensive missiles.

The Dems security proposal tops the war obsessed GOP’s Ukraine giveaway by $50,000,000. Even Illinois’ normally decent Senator Dick Durbin co-sponsors this utter waste of our precious treasure. U.S. military aid to Ukraine since we inspired and supported the 2014 coup that ousted the democratically elected Russian leaning Ukraine president tops $5,000,000,000.

Once again Dems are goaded into trying to appear more militaristic than the GOP for fear of being demonized as weak appeasers. But no party can top the Republican Party for warmongering when spokespersons such as Mississippi Senator Roger floated the possibility of a ground deployment and nuclear strike against Russia should the US engage in a conflict over Ukraine.

Dems are petrified of GOP blowback to their ending our senseless, murderous 20 year Afghan war. They now believe they must bang the war drums against Russia instead of using sensible diplomacy that has a simple solution.

You know America is a declining nation when the only thing the two parties agree on is who can best promote more perpetual war.

  1. What’s amusing is these idiots think that another X million of US taxpayer’s dollars is somehow going to change anything on the ground. Most probably, they don’t. It’s pure political theater.

You could hand Ukraine another $5 billion from Nueland’s slush fund and it wouldn’t make any difference to the military balance. Besides, it would just be pocketed by corrupt Ukrainian politicians and oligarchs like the billions in Eu financial assistance were stolen.

  2. Your heart may be in the right place, but your brain is somewhere else. I also live in Illinois and have with others tried to get the warhawk Durbin, whom you seem to admire, to back off his passionate support for the wars against Yugoslavia, Afghanistan and Iraq, all without avail. As a reminder, Democrats began the Cold War with Russia (Truman), created NATO (Truman), began NATO expansion (Clinton), waged NATO’s first war against Yugoslavia (Clinton) and its air war against Libya (Obama). With the infamous NATO Support Act of 2019 not a single Democrat voted against it, though 22 Republicans did. The Republican Party consists primarily of warhawks, for which it justly deserves criticism; the Democratic Party consists entirely of warmongers. Your contention that Republicans – on the whole – are more bellicose than Democrats was once true. But not in the post-Cold War period of the last 30 years.
By the way, you left the last name, Wicker, off the reference to the egregious Mississippi senator.

    1. At least Durbin offered SA 4865, an Amendment to the 2002 Iraq AUMF that would have changed “continuing threat” to “imminent threat”, at least theoretically restricting the conditions under which Dumbya could attack.

Taking to the Senate floor to oppose the Amendment to Durbin’s face? Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Joseph R. Biden Jr.
