Ukraine Crisis a Boondoggle for US Munitions Makers

President Biden announced Friday he’s “convinced” Russia will invade Ukraine “in the coming week. When challenged why he thought that, he replied “significant intelligence capabilities.

Of course, the president and Congress  have been saying attack is imminent for the last 2 months. During that time both have been ratcheting up weapons sales to Ukraine and other pro West states on Russia’s border. Over $650 million in weaponry in pouring into Ukraine and $6 billion of it, including 250 Abrams tanks, has just been sold to Poland.

The Ukraine crisis is a gift from the Gods to the weapons industry. It is also cheered on d by that segment of the military that promotes endless war as their sole purpose in serving. The crisis is further hyped by mainstream media which learned long ago that perpetual war, potential or real, is a ratings and revenue bonanza.

While the U.S. and the West continue diplomacy with Russia, their statements offer no indication of any compromise whatsoever with Russian security concerns. If so, then some form of invasion, likely to peel off the largely Russian population of the separatist Donbass area, is the most likely target. Ironically, fighting may start from a Ukraine attack on separatist forces in the Donbass to force NATO and US assistance against Russia’s response.

The Ukraine crisis may be haunted by Biden’s correct and gutsy decision to end our 20 criminal war in Afghanistan that has largely destroyed Afghanistan as a functioning state. Biden is under attack from pro war Republicans and Democrats alike who have pounced on his brave action which threatens their endless promotion of perpetual US warfare. He’s appears shell-shocked and resistant to further efforts at peacemaking. That could lead to tragedy.

So far everyone is losing from this crisis except for the munitions makers and their supporters in Congress, military and the press.

And, there’s no god to help us.

  1. “The crisis is further hyped by mainstream media which learned long ago that perpetual war, potential or real, is a ratings and revenue bonanza.”

Plus, they’re owned by the same people heavily invested in the “munitions makers”.

  2. If so, then some form of invasion, likely to peel off the largely Russian population of the separatist Donbass area, is the most likely target. Ironically, fighting may start from a Ukraine attack on separatist forces in the Donbass to force NATO and US assistance against Russia’s response.

The first part is possible, except Russia is not likely to “invade” in the sense of Russian forces crossing the border in large numbers. It’s not even certain that Russia will “peel off” the Donbass in the sense of incorporating Donbass into Russia. More likely Russia will simply recognize the republics as independent states a la Georgia’s breakway republics and provide them with security guarantees. The Russia Duma has already called for this. But Puin is unlikely to do so until it’s clear that the Minsk Package of Measures is dead.

Meanwhile, if it looks like Donbass forces are losing, Russia will merely reinforce them with armaments and probably use Russia’s capabilities cross-border to disrupt the Ukraine offensive. Russia can put a no-fly zone and impose ECM across much of Ukraine to prevent any communication among Ukraine’s forces other than couriers. No need to put Russian forces into Ukraine in large numbers.

The second part has already started. However, the US and NATO will not be involved, except possibly to organize a false flag to further entice Russia to intervene or to blame Russia in order to impose sanctions. The latter is why Putin said the other day that sanctions will be imposed regardless of what happens in Ukraine. The US and NATO know their forces are inadequate against Russia, so there will be no assistance to Ukraine other than arms supplies – which won’t change the military balance between Ukraine and Russia. The real intention is to sacrifice Ukraine in a conflict with Russia in order to impose sanctions on Russia in order to cut off Russia from the EU. And the further intention is to force the EU to slave their economies to the US, not Russia.
