Ray McGovern: The Real Possibility of Nuclear War Over Ukraine

The Veterans for Peace Nuclear Abolition Working Group was honored to present an important talk by Ray McGovern, who discussed the origins of the war in Ukraine and how it could too easily escalate into a nuclear war.

Ray speaks for about 40 minutes, followed by a lively Q&A and discussion. The entire recording goes over 2 hours.

Thanks to Ellen Thomas and Helen Jaccard for uploading the Zoom recording and posting it on YouTube.

  1. The best part of a superb presentation came at time point 2:16 to 2:24, when Ray McGovern said that he would feel hypocritical if he condemned Putin for taking the action he did – after the provocations Putin had endured with NATO expansion and the failure of all attempts at negotiation including his 7 year effort to get the Minsk accords implemented.

The antiwar movement should learn from this and cease its condemnation of Putin and Russia.

The condemnations only feed the war propaganda machine.

    1. Putin was always justified in his actions. He is patriotic Russian.

Anti war movements? Where are they.Killed by MSMs and neocons. They don’t exist any more . Remember the times of the other (George) McGovern of the sixties and seventies who stood up to war mongers along with leaders like Eugene McCarthy. If such courageous people even existed and they would be banished. Remember Charles Percy? How was eliminated from public life
