Though to be sure it wasn’t much of a loss.
There was also that time a Ukraine air defense missile accidentally killed two people in Poland. And then Kiev spent two weeks lying about it and shrieking “Article V!!!!” despite literally everyone saying they knew what happened and weren’t blaming Kiev. Which would be a “false flag” if the Russians, probably less spectacularly grossly incompetently, did something similar.
I’m surprised Washington isn’t still going with the ‘plausible’ “the Russians keep hitting themselves!” narrative, but throwing their proxy under the bus is just how they do.
