I’ve read that President Reagan was deeply moved and shaken by the 1983 TV movie “The Day After” (Hells, I remember family members distressed by it) and it had a positive effect on his outlook toward the Soviets.
I feel we need a modern series on popular streaming that fictionalises a factual walk-thru of the most-likely outcomes of escalation between NATO and the RF and shows how the average citizen would be directly and permanently impacted. It shouldn’t go sci-fi or Bruckheimer over-the-top; just be frank about the likely outcomes on territorial USA and western Europe.
I read the novel, “On the Beach”, in one study hall hour in high school. Then I saw the movie with Gregory Peck…..those f*ckers in D.C. don’t get it. Daniel Elsberg got it.
That book was great. Would that the mid-arc mission hadn’t been spoiled for me in advance (tho it was a minor plot point) but Wow did it ever present a creeping-doom and unsettling winding-down of human civilization…!
