I've read stories of impossibly wealthy Saudi princes (98th in line for the throne, and the likes) who'll go off into a desert, have some tents set up & food & entertainment, and lounge there while lines of ordinary KSA citizens enter & make supplications for things – trivial amounts of money (for the princes at least), to which the prince(s) just absently handwave their assent to the gifts, not even paying attention, just doing it for benevolency "street cred".

A better analogy might be Hindu Brahmins. They created complicated sacrifices to create a need for them. Similarly, sophists in Greece taught “wisdom.” Confucians in China provide similar services. While these groups might have done some good, what they most wanted was to be needed. They wanted a job, wanted power, influence, and money.

When B. Netanyahu made his speech before the UN General Assembly, this week, the room emptied.
Why?
That is because Israel is in flagrant violation of the UN Charter. This is especially the case of Article 2.3 that says:
“All Members shall settle their international disputes by peaceful means in such a manner that international peace and security, and justice, are not endangered.“
That country should be expelled from the UN with a public vote to see how many countries support the rogue state.
I know, the Biden-Harris administration would use its veto at the Security Council to reverse the decision of the General Assembly.
At least, the civilized world would have spoken.
