Antiwar.com news editor Dave DeCamp appeared on Crisis Magazine‘s podcast Crisis Point, hosted by Eric Sammons. Crisis is a Catholic publication founded in 1982 by leading Catholic intellectuals.
It was a fascinating interview about how Dave came to Antiwar.com and rediscovered his faith.
Excellent program as per usual!
Yes. And despite any discussion by anyone, there is nothing you can do to stop it.
Hi Richard:
How so?…
"The avalanche has already started. It is too late for the pebbles to vote."
Dave DeCamp and Eric Sammon's journey to Antiwar is probably similar to many now, though many still do not know the historical context that they describe, and which is often published here. Dave was a Long Island teenager at the time of 9/11, but our invasion of Iraq at the time seemed wrong, but went along with Catholic thinkers (he doesn't say, but George Weigel was very influential at the time) who justified it under "Just War" theory. Later they realized that "Just War Theory" became call a certain leader "Hitler" and justify going to war.
Understanding their evolution, their questioning of invading Iraq, is important to reach the rest of Americans who at the gut level feel the same way, especially with a memory of Vietnam
Despite the madness of the wars still happening, the work of Antiwar of educating people will reach more, and like Eric and Dave, develop the ability of convincing more fair minded Americans about the geopolitics and financial mechanisms ( bond markets and global marlets) that fuel war, and how it can stop
This dovetails well.
