Apartheid Nuclear Island

Good people in California protested on election night — not the election but the practicing of nuclear war in the form of launching a missile loaded with dud nukes from the California coast. The few people who even knew such madness was happening were likely to have heard about it from reports that explained very little about where such ICBMs (intercontinental ballistic missiles) land when they come back down from outerspace. They do land somewhere, and it’s always the same somewhere.

The book Suburban Empire by Lauren Hirshberg tells the story of the Kwajalein Atoll, part of the Marshall Islands, taken during World War II by the United States from Japan, to whom they did not belong. The United States not only took over these islands, and built military bases on them, but also tested nuclear weapons there between 1946 and 1958, above ground, in much greater quantity than in the continental United States, where the people could vote. The people of the Marshall Islands were and remain colonial subjects — easier to test horrible things on.

Ron Paul Liberty Report: British Storm Shadows? Russian ICBMs? How Far Will Escalation Take Us?

On today’s Ron Paul Liberty Report:

Early reports (now disputed) that Russia responded to UK Storm Shadow attacks on Russian territory with the battle launch of an Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) for the first time in history continues to race the world toward nuclear war. In the waning days of the Biden presidency, how far will the warmongers go? Also today, Netanyahu and Gallante may need to adjust their travel plans after an ICC indictment.

‘People’s Arms Embargo’ at Travis Air Force Base

Seventy-five protesters gathered under threatening skies at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California at 6:30 am on Wednesday, November 20. Their mission: to speak out and briefly interrupt the shipment of weapons to Israel from this air base.

For 90 minutes, they showed banners such as “Stop Arms for War Crimes” and “Stop Travis: No US Weapons for Genocide. ” They delayed traffic on the busy six-lane roadway into the base by frequently pressing the button to allow pedestrian crossing.  Fliers were handed out to receptive drivers. The flyers asked “Why are we blocking access to Travis Air Base and messing up your day?”.  It was explained that while November 20 is World Children’s Day, weapons to Israel from Travis are being used to kill children. Bombs loaded onto planes at Travis and other US air bases have killed many thousands of children.

On the Maryhouse Stage, Power Politics and War

In mid-November, New York’s Catholic Worker community, located in lower Manhattan, opened their sizable auditorium to host “Reap What You Sow: Don’t Lose Heart!” a two act play with two actors which debuted, for two nights, on the Maryhouse stage.

Prior to the performance, preparations included selecting the sturdiest wooden chairs for audience seating, carefully cleaning furniture and floors, and rearranging the space so the next issue of the Catholic Worker newspaper, stacked and ready to mail, wouldn’t interfere with access to the theater. Producers created a set which included curtains made of sheets, an assemblage of donated lights, and a small coffeemaker complete with loud gurgles.

Yet Another Smear Piece on Tulsi Gabbard

Reprinted from Bracing Views with the author’s permission.

In my morning news feed from the New York Times came this article on Tulsi Gabbard:

How Tulsi Gabbard Became a Favorite of Russia’s State Media

President-elect Donald J. Trump’s pick to be the director of national intelligence has raised alarms among national security officials.

Here’s the key paragraph from the article, which, of course, is delayed until the sixth paragraph:

No evidence has emerged that she has ever collaborated in any way with Russia’s intelligence agencies. Instead, according to analysts and former officials, Ms. Gabbard seems to simply share the Kremlin’s geopolitical views, especially when it comes to the exercise of American military power. [Emphasis added]
