Video: US Antiwar Activists Report Back From Trip to Russia

Dan Kovalik and Rick Sterling, two antiwar and social justice activists have just returned from a fact-finding trip to Russia, including Crimea. They wanted to speak to Russians and, as people from the U.S., let the Russians know that they opposed the sanctions on Russia and the Western imposed isolation of their country. As the proxy war in Ukraine is putting nuclear powers in conflict to an extent we have not seen in decades, such trips should be the norm for antiwar activists in the US and Russia. But few Russians can get into the US and Western countries make it very difficult for people to travel to Russia.

Video of the Webinar (held on Saturday, June 3) is now available below.

Dan and Rick wrote three articles for Antiwar.com about their trip:

US Drives World To Repeat WWII

At the end of WWII, the US emerged in a position to dominate the world. This was described at the time as the beginning of the "America Century." In the face of China’s peaceful rise and now the rise of the Global South, US domination of the globe is fading. In response the US is driving the world to a repeat of WWII – despite the risk of nuclear Armageddon. The goal is to leave all other major powers devastated, with the US once again emerging relatively unscathed and standing alone as global hegemon, the same as the outcome of WWII.

Hence, Walsh denoted the present period as "WWII Redux" in a prescient article for Asia Times written just days before the US proxy war against Russia in Ukraine intensified in February, 2022. Here he discusses that article and also events, some expected and some unexpected, since his article appeared.

John V. Walsh is a retired Professor of Physiology and Neuroscience at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School. He has written on issues of peace and health care for the San Francisco Chronicle, East BayTimes, San Jose Mercury News, Asia Times, LA Progressive, Antiwar.com, CounterPunch and others. He is a member of the VFP China Working Group.

AIPAC’S Foreign Startup Funding

60 years ago, the Senate uncovered $60 million in Israeli and foreign seed money had been laundered into the US to set up AIPAC. What really happened and what has been the impact?

Institute for Research: Middle Eastern Policy director Grant F. Smith presents findings from his latest book, How Israel Made AIPAC: The Most Harmful Foreign Influence Operation in America.

This book, which retailed for $200 on Amazon, but is now available for just $20.

A transcript with images is also available here.

Praise for How Israel Made AIPAC:

“The case which was made in the 1960s for AIPAC’s registration as a foreign agent of Israel may be even stronger today. ” Alan Brownfeld, American Council for Judaism.

“Grant F. Smith’s book is the real thing – illumination of a critical issue by a superb investigative journalist.” James W. Douglass, author, JFK and the Unspeakable.
