Senate Confirms Bush Error on Indonesia Military Aid

Earlier this month President Bush said that Congress had “changed their attitude” toward resuming the US program to train Indonesia’s military, and was ready to “go forward with” funding the program.

Last week a senior official said that Bush misspoke.

Today the US Senate voted to block this military aid. Jim Lobe reports.

Neocons Want to Bomb Al-Jazeera?

“Take out Al Jazeera, one way or another,”
says rabid neocon Frank Gaffney.

He praises the US-backed Iraqi council decision to ban Al Jazeera reporters from Iraq, but says they don’t go far enough: “Under present wartime circumstances, though, the United States has the ability — and, indeed, an urgent responsibility — to take more comprehensive action against Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya. Unless the two networks adjust their behavior so as no longer to act as the propaganda arm of our enemies, they should be taken off the air, one way or another.”

Calling Charles Krauthammer — Are You There, Charley?

During an April 22nd American Enterprise Institute briefing on the war in Iraq, Charles Krauthammer said: “Hans Blix had five months to find weapons. He found nothing. We’ve had five weeks. Come back to me in five months. If we haven’t found any, we will have a credibility problem.”
