‘School of the Americas Watch’ Convergence November 20-22 at the Gates of Ft. Benning!

Just last week, the U.S. State Department announced that it would cut $5 million in security aid to Mexico in response to its appalling Human Rights record. The withdrawal of some aid – though not enough to put a definitive end to the failed Drug War – is a victory for the people who have been clamoring for justice and calling for an end to US military aid and training to Mexico. We will continue to demand an end to the Drug War and accountability as the US continues to train and fund Mexican military and police through the Merida Initiative.

This November 20-22, join us in Columbus, Georgia for one of the largest hemisphere-wide anti-militarism convergences. This year marks the 25th Anniversary of our Vigil, and our movement, which began on the anniversary of the November 16, 1989 SOA graduate-led massacre of Elba and Celina Ramos and six Jesuit priests at the University of Central America in El Salvador.

From Richland County, South Carolina to Ayotzinapa, Mexico, we continue to see the effects of failed US policy and militarization. We must continue to denounce the militarization of police forces across the Americas and call for an end of state-sponsored terrorism and imminent violence against our communities, both at home and abroad.

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard: CIA Must Stop Illegal, Counterproductive War to Overthrow Assad

Speaking with Wolf Blitzer on CNN, Tulsi explains why the US allying with Islamist extremists to overthrow Syrian President Assad is an illegal, counterproductive war that will cause even more human misery in the region and help ISIS and other Islamist extremists take over all of Syria. Instead of once again being distracted by trying to get rid of a secular dictator, Tulsi explains, the US must stay out of counterproductive wars and focus on defeating the Islamist extremists who have declared war on America.

Tulsi Gabbard is the United States Representative for Hawaii’s second congressional district since 2013. She is also a vice-chair of the Democratic National Committee.

Justin Raimondo Talks to Alan Colmes About the Trump Campaign as a ‘False Flag’

Wednesday on “The Alan Colmes Show,” Alan spoke with Antiwar.com Editorial Director Justin Raimondo, who has a controversial theory about Donald Trump’s Presidential run. Raimondo believes Donald Trump might be a “false flag” candidate to help hand the 2016 election to Hillary Clinton and the Democrats.

Raimondo told Alan why he thinks the Democrats are just as pro-war as Republicans, why Trump may drop out of the race (“he’ll pull a Ross Perot”) and guarantee a Clinton victory, and why Trump actually turns off conservative voters.

Peace Action Statement from Hiroshima On 70th Anniversary of the US Atomic Bombings of Japan

Hiroshima, Japan — August 5, 2014 — On the 70th Anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombings (August 6th and 9th), Paul Kawika Martin, the policy and political director of the United State’s largest peace organization, Peace Action, released the following statement from the official commemoration in Hiroshima.

“Here in Hiroshima, on the 70th Anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombings of this city and Nagasaki, we remember the hundreds of thousands of casualties caused by the most basic of nuclear weapon designs and know that we never want another populous to suffer from such a bomb. Even worse, today’s nuclear weapons are several to hundreds of times more destructive.

Clearly, these horrific weapons are no asset to any country. The current U.S. plan to waste $1 trillion over the next thirty years modernizing, maintaining and replacing delivery systems must be stopped.
