Street Survey: DC Pedestrians Doubt Trump, Harris Can Bring End to Foreign Wars

On November 4, the eve of the US presidential election, I took to the streets of the nation’s capital to ask Americans and foreigners alike about which candidate they trust more to bring an end to conflicts around the world. By the end of the day, the answer was clear: the world doubts that either Donald Trump or Kamala Harris can help diplomatically resolve the conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine.

I surveyed 86 people – including both American citizens and foreign tourists – outside the US Capitol and the White House over the course of several hours. A plurality of respondents, approximately 42%, said that they trust neither Trump nor Harris to end foreign wars. Nearly one-third of respondents said that they believe Trump will resolve foreign conflicts and just over one-quarter said that they believe Harris will do so. The respondents represented countries all over the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Switzerland, Brazil, Syria, and Malaysia (to name a few).

Letter to the EU Greens About the War in Ukraine

In statements such as European Greens continue to stand in undivided solidarity with Ukraine, the EU Greens call the Russian invasion “unprovoked” and support sending arms to Ukraine. The EU Greens make a similar statement in US Elections: European Greens call for Jill Stein to step down.

The naiveté of the EU Greens about the war in Ukraine is surprising and disturbing, for four reasons.

First, the facts about U.S. provocations of the Russian invasion are widely avaiable; I will review them below. Those facts show that the U.S. shares a large proportion of responsibility for the war in Ukraine.

American Surgeon Dr. Feroze Sidhwa, Who Volunteered in Gaza, Interviewed by Dave DeCamp

Antiwar.com news editor Dave DeCamp interviews California trauma surgeon Feroze Sidhwa. Dr. Feroze saw real trauma in Gaza as a volunteer earlier this year.

He was one of 99 American healthcare workers in Gaza who released an open letter to the White House pleading for an end to Israel’s bombing of little children.

Dr. Sidhwa wrote a letter urging support for Antiwar.com’s fund drive.
